3. Tap on 'Edit Settings'
4. Scroll to 'WatchWidgets' and tap that
5. Tap on ?Background 5x5'
6. Tap on 'Image for Background 5x5'
7. Select an image
8. Now go to 'Edit watch faces' in the Smartwatch2 App
9. Make a new / or customize a Watch face and tap 'widgets'
10. Scroll until 'Background 5x5' appears
11. Drag this widgets to the Watch Screen and see the magic happen
12. Hit the thanks button under this post :good:
This doesn't work for me. I did all these steps and ended up seeing the sample image all time in step 10/11, but not my custom image
Any workaround?

When I set a background and then attach a clock the clock comes with a black shadow that renders me having a background useless. Any ideas?

I'm using the zip @vrl13 posted. I think they are all jpg files. I'll take a look.

I think you need this as well:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735718

First place the background and then place all the widgets
Custom background doesn't work for me either. The image name has no spaces. Hopefully the next update will fix it.

The background doesn't work for me either. I have the modified smartconnect app installed. I have tried jpg and png files. I have tried files in various source folders (including the photoalbum). but still only the original watchwidgets sample background appears, without any change/replacement.

Jpeg? Jpegs are for photos. For graphics are text please export PNG. Better quality.

I got one here.
It's not looking good in black and white. It's that background you have. Try exporting with a transparent background in PNG format.

today's update removed offline analog backgrounds

Today's WatchWidgets update removed the background for the offline analog watchface; while it fixed the font issue with offline digital clocks, the first font (which is the most legible) doesn't appear on the phone, instead the led 7-segment type appears.

To the developer:

First of all, thank you for working on this app.

Your requirements for the size of the background png doesn't match the actual screen size; is there any scaling going on to match the screen size?

Can you make an offline digital clock 1x1 like the online version? That will allow a digital/analog watchface where the digital watch doesn't overlap too much.

About the first paragraph issues: please fix this! it was working before this update. Can you provide the previous apk to install it while you sort this out?

EDIT: the watch face background for offline clocks issue is fixed. The first font for offline digital clock is still different than the original one. I prefer the original as it looks similar to the font used by sony for the SW2 apps. Also, please make an offline digital clock 1x1 like the existing online versiion.

analog watchface

I was working on an analog background for Custom Watch app; the developer of that app haven't updated it for the new firmware yet. This watchface background is similar to the original sony analog but has smaller quadrant numbers to reduce overlapping. I sized as recommended by the watchwidgets app (215x170)
