Backlight uniformity?

Today I sent I back. I made my peace with the display issue, since it's minor.
But then the thin plastic panel on the USB plug side starts falling apart, so you could see electronic components inside.
So I guess it is not waterproof anymore. This lousy build quality for such a premium price brings me to the point not to try another one.
I am a Nexus 7 user since three years and I thought the 7" screen is to small for some purposes, so I would like to try 10".
But after one week using the Z4 I come to the conclusion 10" are to huge for my typical usage behavior, as couch & bed internet surfing.

I will try the Dell Venue 8 7000 as next, 8.5" OLED screen, 350 dpi, 300g, 6 mm thick, solid build metal case, reasonable price ...

On Saturday I went to an retail store and inspected three items . All of them had a more or less notable brighter right edge.
So I think now it is a general construction feature.
I picked the best device to give Sony a last chance, since the device is awesome despite the issues.

I bought the tablet a month ago. Had the same problem. It wasn't very apparent but definitely the left size was dimmer than the rest and was somehow distracting when reading Web pages in portrait with text in the edge, once I realised the problem. Specially for a 599 euros gadget...
I contacted support and they have sent me a new device. I am happy with the new one, I think it isn't 100 uniform yet but I don't noticed with a normal use.
I bought it through the Sony Web store in Spain. Both units are rev 2 and came from the Czech Republic storehouse. Bundle keyboard.

Man really sorry to hear about such a problem. Thank the Gods for the first time ever I didn't receive a defect Sony mobile product with this Z4 tablet... I bought my Xperia Z used it for 3 months the phone stopped charging and had to bring it back for a replacement; Bought my Xperia Z3 first one had a pixel issue after 4 months and when I got my replacement there was the gap issue between the chassis and glass panel which Sony don't recognize as a hardware fault.

It's amost as if all of Sony's gadgets are prototypes or something...

After returning the 2nd Z4 "prototype" I got a Nexus 9 wifi 32gb for 299€. It's a little bit heavier than the Z4 (430g) but the display is also nice and the 4:3 ratio is fine. The backlight is more uniform although there is minimal bleeding on a total black screen. But in normal usage you would not notice it compared to the Z4. Battery life is better than than the Z4. I don't regret the change to the N9. For nearly half of the price of a Z4 you get more solid gadget.
