Bad experience with Market apps and changing phones.

I just bought my second Android phone and after logging in using my Gmail account I expected all my apps to start downloading but they didn't which annoys me since after wiping my old phone they always came back.

Without it I have now lost my access to ShapeWriter Keyboard which has always kept auto downloading since it was removed from the Market.

Plus I have never bought paid apps but I was grandfathered in for Shazam and I heard stuff like that was tied to the Google account and not the phone but when I check payment status it says I am not paid anymore.

Is this normal to lose anything that was not just a normal free and current download?

Not sure what phones you are dealing with here but I know google backup is only on a select few roms I have tried. I would also assume you had no titanium backup? Maybe something from your old phone that you could recover them?

Id you still has your old phone you could get titanium on to it back up your apps and then move the backup folder to your new phone. Then install titanium backup and run a batch for restoring those apps.

Just a thought

I know about backing it up with Titanium but it just annoys me that I should have it download from the market automatically and I shouldn't need extra software.

On a plus side I contacted Shazam customer service and found out how to transfer my grandfather status to the new phone which is nice although you can only have one IMEI unlimited at a time so my old phone loses unlimited but that is not that bad.
