I think as technology gets better batteries will become smaller not bigger as with everything else.
and by the looks of the reviews coming in, it's already happening.

its kinda funny to see people blaming it on what happened to the note 7, i don't think these people have even looked into what happened to the note 7 other than what there local news station headline and memes.

We all read this hoping for some miracle... But we all know the SOT will really be SHT.

Power users will have to keep it on charge several times a day , just like the s8+ and every other Samsung phone. Its a pain, but Samsung designed it that way. The only device that I didn't have this issue with (and I have owned a few!) was the Mate 9. Sometimes the only answer is a large fuel tank!

With respect and zero confrontation I disagree the battery situation is a Samsung phenomena.
I have been purchasing mobiles phones since 1989 and have generally owned the flagship models but also many other variants crossing every brand I can think of and the one common denominator in all the flagship models is battery use.

I have zero idea how the technology has advanced so fast in nearly every area of usage except battery time?
It amazes me how the various brands have trained us to purchase Uber mobiles that are more powerful than the average laptop then add software and advise us to downgrade the mobiles performance in order to conserve battery life? Its so absurd yet we mobile nuts keep buying the mobiles? I don't know who is worse the manufactures or us, the consumers.
I have my SGS8+ set to the lowest level of performance in order to last the day. In reality I would be better off buying a middle range phone. This is certainly not just a Samsung situation.

Its absurd that the note series are 'power' devices yet they fit a smaller battery than the S8+!

Covering their arses or what?! This doesn't attract me, having Samsung skimp and play it uber safe for their own gratification. Other phones (including theirs) have larger capacities and are far cheaper. A bigger battery showing they have confidence in their products would not have been rocket science - and would have been what we, its 'power' users expect.

So what they made an error in the note 7 - the note 8 should have been the beast that it just isn't.
The size of the note 8 battery has zero to do with what happened to our much loved and missed note 7's. You simply cannot compare the note 8 with the SGS8+. I have seen the schematics for the Note 8 and its the real estate the S-pen occupies that results in a smaller battery than the SGS8+. Samsung are not "Playing it safe", its a question of internal space. You cant fit a pin head inside the Note 8 its chocobloc full.

Amazing how they found space in all the previous models whilst making the battery bigger than the S versions! I can kill a battery on a day out by 5pm. External battery packs are not the solution (although the piggy back note 7 case was a good addition). The note series is not maintaining its legacy of being a power device, by sticking a small battery in it.
Although it pretty much lost that mantle when it discontinued with the removable battery! But lets not go there!

I came from a S8+ on verizon to Note 8 on sprint.

Im not sure if its the service problem but my battery life on Note 8 has been really really bad.

Overnight drain = 20% with note 8

Before with S8+ verizon overnight drain would be 3%

Most of the time at home right now on sprint I have no signal or 0-1 bars. Around -110 to -115 dBm measure.

I cant say for certain its the carrier switch, but I think it is. I can literally put my phone down for 10 minutes, come back and it drained 3% with screen off.

I ordered a signal booster from sprint so hopefully it helps this. If this problem persist after the fact Im going to have to return this phone.

Are you ordering a cell tower or booster? Avoid those mini cell towers like the plague.

More trouble than they're worth. They need to be connected to your home internet service (modem/router) in order to work and unless the unit has a built in approved user list any Tmo (or whatever carrier it's from) user within signal reach can piggyback off of it which can mean your home net usage can go up. So if you live in the suburbs, apartment, it can mean a fair number of users leeching off of it.

This is why Tmo and others offer these mini cell towers for free because it's using YOUR home internet service to help boost things. Screw that noise.

A booster on the other hand doesn't need your home net service. It just helps boost the signal from the nearest tower, like a relay.

Interesting. I've been using one from VZ since 2011. I don't think that it has a list. I've never checked. It's been plugged in for years and I forgot about it. Fortunately my internet is 1GB and unmetered.
VZ service in my area sucks huge. Is there any booster that is better than others?

Better as far as options like approved list feature? I don't know. I think the one that AT&T uses has the option of an approved list so that only phone numbers you approve can connect to the mini cell tower. I just know that when Tmo tried to give me one I rejected it after reading up on what it actually does. I have fast home internet from Spectrum but I'm not keen on the idea of my usage going up because of other random phones using my mini cell tower on the fly. That didn't sit right with me.

If you've got poor reception where you're living I can understand the need to use one. I'd just recommend researching the model you have and learn as much about it as possible. Maybe someone else reading this who really knows more about these gadgets can chime in with their thoughts on it.

The one i am getting supposedly i dont have to plug into anything. All that is required is plugging the power in and it pulls from nearby towers or something.

Im on sprint, its called "magic box"

I hope it works out cause my no data / 0 bars situation at home is getting infuriating.

Different carrier? You can't compare them. I went from a s8+ to note 8 on vz. Battery life is slightly less. About 6%, which is how much smaller the battery is. Not a deal breaker but a little disappointed. I did expect less battery life though.

That's legit. Hope it works out for you.
