This question is very difficult to answer, because everyone's usage is different. If everyone replied, you would get very confusing answers saying how good / bad / the same battery life is compared to some other unknown benchmark.

The answers would largely be useless because we don't know what you mostly or generally use your phone for, compared to how others use their devices...

Please apply this logic to all device / software / kernel / ROM combinations

Hi just wanted to share my battery life experiences with my nexus 5 so far as I have recently bought one and have had the phone nearly a month now. My last phone was the 1st gen moto g which is said to have pretty good battery life and the common theme for the nexus 5 is that is that is had bad battery life. In moss cases i am matching or beating my moto gs battery life with the same or harder use and ive been getting 4 hours + sot mainly and recently i have been getting 5 and half hours sot every day for over a week now.

So the above replies basically prove my point. How are they really useful for you?

- "Somewhat light user. 2:30SoT at most."
Exactly how does this user define "somewhat light" usage...and how does that even compare to how you use your phone...

- "4 hours + sot mainly and recently i have been getting 5 and half hours sot every day for over a week now"
Also doesn't say how they use their phone

SOT is a very crude approximation of battery life. Without context, comparisons are largely useless. You ask for 'heavy use to normal', but there is no definition of light / 'normal' / heavy use, because it varies so much depending on the user...

You could get hundreds more replies, all with different answers. Very few will be relevant to what you may or may not achieve if you bought and used the same phone.......

Right before I replaced my Nexus 5 with a Nexus 5X I was getting about 2 hours 30 minutes SOT with ~12 hours off charger at best on my Nexus 5.

That was good cell signal(either light green or dark green bar in battery details like 90% of the time), brightness at like 20%, wifi all but an hour a day, no games, no video(streaming or local), no music(streaming or local), no GPS, location on battery saving. only one Google account syncing with most options off and no Bluetooth. Pretty much just browsing and Facebook app to get that 2 hours 30 minutes. It was awful.

Nexus 5X now and I'm getting about 1 hour SOT more with about the same total time off charger which isn't much better than what my Nexus 5 got when it was brand new.
