Hi there!
My device says that there's no service and battery icon shows a question point:

Does it mean that my battery is gone? And what about service?
I've installed CM7 Nightly #203 and vorkKernel (flags: camera, ril725, silent, ext4, ring), i don't think it's this the problem though.

I've bought this device just 6 days ago, what shall i do?
I trust in your help.

Update 08 Jan 2012: if you have the same problem, try to restore your previous RIL before flashing with nvflash.

i bet that is a baseband issue... have you changed your baseband trough the smartflash software?
go to settings -> about phone and check the baseband version, if it says unknown it's the same problem i had 1 week ago

the only solution is to flash trough nvflash the stock rom that include any official baseband like the last 725 for me (italy)

after you flash the stock rom+baseband don't restore any backup, it will brick your baseband again

Thanks both.
Well, i've changed RIL through Get RIL app.
In fact, baseband version is unknow!

Do I really have to flash stock rom in order to fix it?

Nope, restore don't touch baseband, as it can't access to hidden partitions where BB is flashed by Smartflash or Nvflash.

Personnally I would check Baseband version in Settings> About Phone. If it's unkown, you can just flash the desired Baseband with Smartflash. Or flash an entire stock ROM with Smartflash, but it will unroot your device, so you'll have to root it again.

If Baseband is correclty identified, grab only the RIL and fllash it with CWM.

See Temasek shared files here:

http://www.mediafire.com/temasek

It contains all basebands in smartflash format, and RILs in .zip format

If you followed this:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/335...aseband-release-103521-20110725-v20l-version/

Then it should be fine. If wipes /system and /data, so you have to restore via CWM your backup.

Try to install another ROM like Thanatos for example to check if it's not ROM related, or kernel related by flashing a fresh CM7 without changing kernel. CM7 is already ext4 so you don't need vorkkernel for that, adn it's better to use I think GetRIL to match RIL and BB.

i wrote that because it's the thing happened to me last week...

this was my issue:
changed baseband from 405 to 725 trough smartflash
first reboot after baseband switch worked fine with the previous RIL 405
applyed the correct RIL725 with GetRIL
backed up
rebooted
phone with "unknown baseband" and obviously no service at all, only WiFi working
tried several times flashing other basebands and roms without sorting out the problem
flashed stock v10c with nvflash
phone working normally
rooted + cwm
restored the previously backup
phone with "unknown baseband" and obviously no service at all, only WiFi working
flashed stock v10c with nvflash
phone working normally
rooted + cwm
installed cyanogen #203 and working normally
installed RIL725 from GetRIL
rebooted
phone with "unknown baseband" and obviously no service at all, only WiFi working
flashed stock v10c with nvflash
phone working normally
rooted
installed cyanogen #203 and working normally
restored various apps from titanium backup

now i'm sticking with 725 baseband and CM stock RIL218 to prevent another "unknown baseband" issue

So it's more a CM7 bug that can't deal with BB. Don't remember that CM7 comes with 0218 BB, and there's no official recommendation to change it, aramcee was very clear on that .. despite this many users flash alternative BB and it works, so hard to say..

Golden rule: if already installedBB works no need to change except if asked by ROM packager.

Well, i've just installed RIL 725 on cm7 by switching to vorkKernel.
It works. However i remember that before, when i got the "unkown" baseband, i installed another RIL through GetRIL. And this did the mess up!

Now it works like a charm :D
