I'm starting this thread to let you know about a weird issue i'm having with xda-developers forum, a week has passed but i still haven't found a solution.

Basically, when i load any of the page of this forum my notebook starts playing some annoying beeps, 5 or 6 short (but strong) beeps, something like an alarm!

It looks like a pc's bios/hardware error, but it is not. It ONLY occurs while i'm navigating xda-developers, and in no other case.

Is that weird enough?

Is there anybody else who gets her/his computer turned into road runner while browsing xda-developers forum?

One way to solve BIOS issues...get a Mac :D

Sent from the XDA App on my FroYoed Sprint Hero...so forgive possible typos :)

thanks for your answers,

unfortunately (or problably i have to say fortunately!) i'm sure it is not a bios problem.

The one and the only condition which leads to these beeps is loading a xda-developers page. No virus, no hardware issues, nothing that i can find.

Actually, searching over the net i found this referred to the 6 beeps or led blinks (from HP site):
"The BIOS authentication error (Blink code 6) is extremely rare. It is the result of a discrepancy between the BIOS and the hardware that is installed on the computer. This error occurs when the BIOS cannot authenticate signatures from the hardware on the system. The purpose of the BIOS authentication is to be sure that no one has tampered with the BIOS on the computer."

But, no new hardware has been installed, and all works flawless except when i'm on xda. Then i really can't believe that loading a page from xda can arouse from sleep some hidden and unsigned hardware in my notebook :)

I will wait a bit for someone who has the same "beeps trouble" with xda.. otherwise i will try with some radical solution (formatting)

i have the same problem and only when i load xda pages (started two days ago)...guys, this is really annoying...i have to turn off speakers when i'm browsing xda...why? why? why???

browser is firefox 3.6.12
If your sound disappears when you turn the speakers down, it's not a BIOS beep. It must be an ad or something at the top of the page that makes the noise.

thanks a lot!

It's exactly the solution i was looking for, i use firefox too, i tried lot of things but not the easiest way: trying with another browser!

so, firefox + xda + ads = beeps :)

now i'm going to install the ads blocker, thanks again

I have the exact same problem, except it has originated (I think) when I was using appbrain. It also happens even if I only have a google tab open - with out that ad even on the page! Really annoying. I need to find a way to block this in chrome.

I too concluded it is the secondamendo add
