Hey all, I am interested in buying the Canvas HD after seeing all the comments and great reviews about the device.
There are some questions in my mind though and would really appreciate it if someone would clarify on them.
This could also serve for people like me who want to buy this phone.

1st
What is the 'exact' RAM in it?
As in Settings>Applications>Running = Total RAM (Used + Free memory)

2nd
Does it play 1080p .mkv format videos?
MX player shows S/W or H/W rendering.

3rd
There was an issue about 'Flipboard' not running. Has it been fixed?

4th
Any lags or problems, we should be aware of beforehand?

Thanks a lot to people who may help :)

Hi,

First of all, great device in that price range for sure. I loved it.

Here are my experiences to your questions:

1> Exact RAM is 0.99 GB. Also the consumed RAM at any time on my phone has not crossed > ~600 MB. I have a lot of apps installed and running on phone except heavy games. You can be rest assured that 400 MB RAM would be available unless you try to crack 512-bit SHA secured password (just kidding :D). The RAM is just fine for the phone and the phone runs smooth with that.

2> It does play 1080p video easily, not sure about .mkv though. There is an app for .mkv in the play store somewhere, so you can search.

3> Don't care much about Flipboard and Yes ! It was fixed. You have atleast 5-6 active ROMs in development for the device so you can try different ROMs if you face any issue. Though rooted STOCK ROM is the best IMHO.

4> There had been no lags for me whatsoever. I was really happy with my device until yesterday when the phone suddenly stopped recognizing any SIM cards. Have heard a lot about pathetic Micromax after sales service but still going to give it a shot myself.

Get the damn phone and wish you never have to visit MMX service center. Welcome to the darkside, we are QUAD core ;)

Thanks a lot for the quick reply guys.
I had a bad experience with the ninja 4 (low ram was the killer), so wanted to make sure first.
I think i'll wait for canvas 4 reveal and if within budget go for it,
but i'm leaning towards this due to thriving community and xda thread of its own :)

thanks again guys
do keep updated.

btw is the source code available?
I mean are people building from source, as will 4.3 update be possible?
