Well guys, I did my absolute best... I really did scour the forums and try every known method available before troubling everyone with yet another sob story, but after COUNTLESS days and hours - I truly am at my wits end and need some guidance.

I picked up a Streak 7 from craigslist with a known CWM boot loop issue. Got a great deal and figured, how hard could it be? I'll do a little Googlin' and have it up and running in no time.

Twas not the case my friends.

Heres the skinny...

The thing simply keeps booting back into the Clockwork Mod. I can only assume this was as a result of the OTA update that created the conflict several months back. I cannot boot into Fastboot mode by holding Volume Down and powering up. It simply kicks me back into CWM.

Therefore I cannot fastboot flash the recovery.img file as suggested in the following thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996731
When I boot up normally into CWM - ADB can see my device, but fastboot cannot. There was a thread that suggested a modified driver file for fastboot... I installed the updated FB driver, but still no go.

If there were a way to use fastboot without actually being in fastboot mode on the device, I'm thinking this might solve my issue and I can then flash recovery.img and install the stock pkg from the device once in recovery mode.

Any ideas?

I also tried the following method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011654

Was able to (seemingly) flash the original boot and recovery images in the ADB Shell as stated in this thread. ' flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p2 /sdcard/boot_orig.img '

After the unit resets it simply kicks me back into CWM yet again with no changes.. The files that were uploaded to the unit have disappeared, and everything reverts back to its previous state.

Also tried booting the device in APX mode and flashing a series of files using NVFLASH as suggested in another thread. That would be the thread with the p2.img-p14.img downloads that were to rewrite partitions and make everything beautiful again... Didn't work for me. Keeps booting back into CWM.

I refuse to believe there is not a workaround to this, and I'm sure that someone here has experienced the same problem. I am at your mercy ... begging ... for the love of goodness, someone - anyone... help? :)

Any ideas - points in the right direction - suggestions - thread links - heck.. even a flame (followed by some constructive criticism and solid info)... would be ever so much welcome. Even if one of you gurus would be willing to chat over an IM platform for a bit, gosh.. that would be huge.

Thanks in advance to you all - Help me get this thing runnin and I've got a pizza with your name on it from your local delivery guy. :)

Sara

[And thanks to those of you who have already taken the time to help me via PMs, still a no go]

Oh gosh.. The more I read on .. the closer I'm coming to realize that my Streak 7 may be in the dreaded 'read-only' zone.

:(

I understand there is virtually no recovery from this. Is that your understanding as well forum gurus?

This stupid tablet is driving me to drink... gulp gulp.

question

Just curious you said you flashed honeystreak using nvflash method and in theory it should have wiped out everything in your dell streak and sounds like it didnt so i suggest you reflash honeystreak again...make sure you follow direction carefully...Your explanation installing honeystreak didnt reconcile to original instruction see link...

I found that the only way out was to format the partitions from within cwm, thereby completely wiping it out and then nvflash was a viable restore method. However, proceed at your own risk.

Hey fellas, want to thank you first of all of your help. Don, I followed the Honeystreak method to the letter (yes when I was sober! lol) My device was successfully recognized as APX and I ran the .bat file as instructed. There was an error formatting the partition during the process and the whole thing just aborted itself when it couldnt format the partition. :( I dont have the actual error, as I am not home or near my device. Had to set it down for a few days, as it was driving me crazy.

Illdill, I have yet to try formatting the partition from CWM... at least I think I haven't tried it! Theoretically, would you be able to format a partition on a device that has hit the Read-Only point?

Like I mentioned before.. the more I poke around the more I'm thinking that I've hit this dreaded Read Only point, for which I cannot seem to find a remedy. I'm going to try formatting the partition with CWM, but have a feeling I've tried it before.. I've gone through virtually every option in CWM and tried every combo of procedures. Has anyone ever restored a 'Read-Only' device?

Any more help that can be offered would be so so so much appreciated!

Okay, when trying to restore the Streak 7 using NVFLASH per Illdill's thread.. everything appears to work.. UNTIL

Formatting partition 2 BCT please wait.. FAILED!
command failure: create failed (bad data)
bootloader status: partition table is required for this command (code: 8) message: nverror:0x2 (0x2) flags: 0

Has anyone encountered this error before? Or any ideas as to how to workaround the issue?

Thanks again!!

Try NVFlash again with my procedure here >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252840 The top half is the same method you tried. Scroll down and use the CWD users method let me know if it works. Also be aware this process is for the wifi only streak. If you have the t-mobile version let me know and I will explain the modified steps to you
