Despite of amazing development & support for Canvas Nitro, many users shifting from stock firmware/rom to custom roms get confused regarding how to get started & do it safely!! I was also one of them till I did it & here's the complete know-how information.:cowboy:

Please note that this method is tried & tested on Windows 7 64bit.

Preferably keep ur pc internet ON.
STEP1 Installing drivers..
*First See How to Install MediaTek USB VCOM Driver for Windows. The procedure remains same for Windows7 except that the driver signature verification can be skipped.
*Download MTK_USB_ADB_Ultimate.rar(Credit: chinaphonearena.com) drivers & extract them somewhere. Open it & there are three folders.

First of all, open 2nd folder PDANet Driver & install PdaNetA4150.exe & follow on screen instructions.

Now open each of the remaining folders & install all the exe files(for a trouble free experience.:) )

1.) Open All MTK Drivers-->AutoDriver_Win7 folder & inside X64 folder, run as admin spinstall.exe & follow onscreen instructions.
2.) Go back & open FeaturePhoneDriver-->v1.032.1 folder & run as admin InstallDriver.exe 7 follow onscreen instructions.
3.) Then go back & open New inst. win 7&8x64 folder & run as admin dpinst64.exe.
4.) Then go back & open Soft folder & there are two rar files: msxml6.rar & vcredist_x86.rar. Extract & install both of them.
5.) Now go back to the screen u have three folders. Open Universal Android USB Driver folder & run as admin UniversalAdbDriverSetup6.msi

Restart ur pc.

STEP2 Rooting..

It is advisable to format the phone before rooting so that nandroid backup which your'e going to make later consists only of stock rom. Thus backup size will be minimum.
1.) Download Kingroot for PC(Thanks Prateek Verma:))
2.) Now goto phone's Settings-->About phone & tap on Build number 7-8 times to enable developer options. Then goto Settings-->Developer options & tick mark USB debugging.
3.) Open Kingroot on PC(internet required on PC) & you'll see the following screen:

4.) Connect ur phone in ON mode & wait till u see connected at the bottom left of Kingroot. Follow any onscreen instructions.

5.) There will be only one big ROOT button. Click it to start the process. It will download required files 7 or 8 times, so have some patience. Also ur Canvas Nitro will reboot during the process, so DO NOT TOUCH THE PHONE DURING ROOT PROCESS.
6.) When the process gets completed successfully, Kingroot will display the confirmation message.
7.) DONE!!
So now u r rooted as well..

STEP3 Backup NVRAM/IMEI

Requirements:
1.) ADB Drivers(These you have already installed in step1 above):),
2.) MTK_Droid_Tools_253.rar(Credit: chinaphonearena.com),
3.) Here's the [Tutorial] to backup your NVRAM(Remember to connect ur phone as a media device & not as USB charging mode).
Also take a backup via MobileUncle Tools on your phone.
So now you have your imei backed up too..

STEP4 Flash CWM recovery & take a Nandroid Backup

Flashing Recovery:
1.) You can use any recovery from Canvas Nitro's forum but I'd suggest to use cwm recovery for the very first time. So, download CWM Recovery for Nitro(you must be logged in at needrom.com to download it) & place recovery.img directly in phone's storage(not in any folder).
2.) Download MobileUncle Tools & allow root access.
3.) Goto Recovery Update & select recovery.img. When it prompts to reboot in recovery press OK.
Taking Nandroid Backup:
4.) Goto backup & restore & then select backup.
5.) Wait till the backup process completes & then select reboot system. If DISABLE RECOVERY FLASH or FIX ROOT option appears, only press on GO BACK.

To restore this backup, just goto recovery mode by pressing Volume up & Power keys together for about 10 seconds. Then in recovery mode select backup & restore & select restore.

STEP5 Replacing Kinguser with SuperSU
If u want to remain in stock rom & enjoy its root capabilities for sometime then it's better to replace KingUser with SuperSU.
1.) Download SuperSU-v2.48.zip & flash via recovery.
2.) Reboot phone.

And now... you can proceed to the world of custom roms...:cool:

Hope this helps..!!:):)

I guess not coz now there are changes already made to the system partition. & also if u have custom recovery then it may interfere with the updates installations. But there are stock firmwares for Canvas Nitro as well. So if u need updates as usual then flash stock firmware. I haven't tried flashing it yet coz I'm on stock rooted. If u want procedure I'll provide u.:)
