You will need to install a custom kernel first like philz to get a permanent Cwm based recovery. Then boot into recovery and flash the new room after wipes.

Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
Thanks!!

figured it was something like that, so i unrooted and started again with philz ,wow the purple/mauve really works, anyway i then tried the paranoid android rom and downloaded gapps as well and my sd card went down during the install and i couldnt get past the opening screen(nightmare) so didnt panic and prepared another micro sd card and put the zip back on it.And success. Now going to find more roms to play with ;)

If you are planning to go for Method 2, then you will need to match the build number not the kernel version.
Hi

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I am planning to use method 2.

I made a mistake with the build number which should have read JZO54K.N7000XXLT4

Unfortunately I cannot find either JZO54K or XXLT4 in the lists. Does this mean I cannot use method 2?

Thanks

Trying to root old Galaxy Note, Get "E: Signature Verification Failed"

Hi,

I have an old Galaxy Note that will no longer boot up in the stock ATT OS, but I can get all the recovery screens still. I am trying to install a new ROM and trying to root, but when I follow your instructions I get "E: Signature Verification Failed" in red after I try to run the zip file downloaded and copied to the storage card. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a new Note 3 but have always wanted to root and since the old Note won't work anyway I'm thinking it's a good evening project to root and learn how to work with custom ROMs.

Thanks!

Your at&t note is based on snapdragon chipset so the roms for n7000 will not work on it. You need to first install a custom kernel which has clockwork mod recovery and m then you can flash custom roms.
