If your phone is responding in any way. It is not "bricked".

I know no the term has become common usage, but still. I have been working with the term 'bricked' for 10+ years.

The first I heard was with the the Linksys wireless routers. Then a bricked device was a paper weight. Not fixable, inert.

Soft bricked came next, and was a device that was teetering on the edge of unfixable, running out of options.

You could make the case that there is a distinction between 'bricked' and 'hard bricked'.

Perhaps this borders on the pedantic, but the fact is that an extremely small percentage of devices actually end up hard bricked, or even truly soft bricked.

It's kind of like saying, I think I cut my arm off. . .

Like I said the term bricked for a semi-functional device has entered common usage, and I'm not dumb enough to think that is going to change because it used to mean something else. But I felt like providing some perspective on it.

I don't see a problem with using the term "soft brick" in many cases.

Few days back I received android update 4.3 on my Nexus 7. I tried installing it but could not. I downloaded it and tried to install, first it gave me error" signature fail" I tried again and after installation it did not work (boot image failure). I turned it off and left it with my PC. After 2 hours I tried it to turn on but nothing happened. I did all the things which I found on XDA and different other sites but all in vain. It only shows me APX in device manage of my PC.

What will you say it? is it hard bricked or soft bricked? is there any solution to recover it?

Waiting for your response.
