If the theif flashes a rom on your phone it removes cerberus completely, unfortunately it will only stop people who don't know much about android.Another shout-out to Cerberus.
It's fantastic.
https://www.cerberusapp.com/download.php
I use the ICS disguised .zip.
It still works just fine on Jelly Bean...and it disguises it as "System Framework."
This way it's a System Application.
And it doesn't show up as "Cerberus" in the Settings>Applications screen.
True.If the theif flashes a rom on your phone it removes cerberus completely, unfortunately it will only stop people who don't know much about android.
I am gonna stick with avast. Seems it does same thing as Cerberus and is free, no trials or subscriptions.I've been using Avast Mobile Security. It does all the antivirus, privacy, firewall stuff, but can also install Anti-theft piece into the System partition under any name you specify, and you can password protect it; that way it's not that obvious to the thief that it's an anti-theft app and he can't uninstall it through the applications menu. When a new SIM is inserted it detects that and sends sms from that phone number to the phone numbers you specified, then you can do a remote wipe.
Hearing about Cerberus though I am definitely gonna have to check it out.

so basically I lock my phone and what exactly does this disable? The rebooting into fastboot?Nope. Unlocks and Locks without any ill effects.
The kicker is you need to be rooted.
[Meaning you can't use this if your phone isn't rooted...and thus, no, this isn't an alternative to Manually unlocking and rooting your phone]
You can't prevent them flashing the stock images or getting into fastboot.so basically I lock my phone and what exactly does this disable? The rebooting into fastboot?
That's why you root and put Cerberus as a system app, it would even survive a factory reset. Cerberus is the best theft app by far.If the theif flashes a rom on your phone it removes cerberus completely, unfortunately it will only stop people who don't know much about android.
