Tried the swype keyboard but it redirects to a different site forcing me to download a different app.

Swype is available at the play store for 1,11€ or you try the trial first

Possibly. I tried Huawei file manager and it does the same thing. Anyways, I was able to download swype just by being persistent . This is the solution if you're using the default Swype keyboard and it keeps on closing.
