I have the official Samsung case. Its a perfect fit and good protection from falls (dropped it from about 2, 5mtr onto steel deck the other day and all good) but it does add quite some bulk. A thus use the phone "naked" under normal circumstances and snap on the case when im working...

Do the i9190 covers fit the i9195?

There's a lot more choices for the i9190. Not sure if it is just the "generic" S4 mini or if there's some differences.

There's no mechanical difference. Cases for 9190 will fit for 9195. Only exclusion might be with metal cases shielding the NFC at the 9195.

Well it's local so telling you the brand won't help but today I got one of those bottom-flip with magnet at the top pleather covers for my phone and I reckon that's the way to go. Yeah the phone is about twice as fat with one, but every possible area is protected from fall damage and the phone was quite slim to begin with so it's not so bad. Plus I think it's the best orientation a flip cover can have, cuz if you get top, then it would rest on your head if you make a call, if you use sides then you have to flip it around back which makes the phone flimsier to hold. Much cheaper and much more protection than Samsung's stupid flip covers which are basically oversized screen protectors.

Here's a pic of it still doing it's initial charge as I only just got it so you can see the case

And here's a link to the local site that makes my so you can see other pics of it (I'm only trying to show you the style/type of case I'm talking about, not suggesting you get that one specifically as you can't since it's local)

You can find cases like that on EBay going through the entire listing of cases for the S4 Mini (5K entries or so if you specify only top sellers). I was originally going to order one from EBay as well but since I saw that one in a shop here I decided just to get it rather than have my phone "naked" for 2 weeks whilst I wait for the ordered one to arrive.

help with lanyard

Hello. I'm looking for a way to attach a lanyard to my S4M. I need a lanyard to keep it from falling, so sorry if you find that ugly.
My idea is not to mod the phone, but instead to use one of the following methods (look at the urls for examples):

1. with a gummy bumper (e.g. tr.im/4hn5d) drilling two small holes, or with a metal bumper (e.g. tr.im/4hn5g) just tie the nylon string to one of the openings

2. with a gummy cover (e.g. tr.im/4hn5j) drilling two holes in one side

3. with a cover replacement (e.g. tr.im/4hn5k) carefully drilling the usual two holes

What do you think would be the best method? Any other? The lanyard should be very safe: I use to pull on it to get the phone out of my pocket.
I do not want to add much extra weight (so maybe the metal bumper is not advisable) nor making the phone bulky; more protection for the phone is welcome.
By now I'm using a cover like the third case on my Samsung Gio, and I like it (just adds some thickness but not much), however I'm not sure it would hold a lanyard safely (the Gio has a built in lanyard hole).
Thanks for any advice!

I'd imagine the back cover would come off with the right amount of strength so I'd suggest you get a cover / bumper and drill the holes in that instead.

So, I've gotten 4 cases so far. 2 from Casemate, one from Cygnett and one from a random supplier. NONE HAVE FIT!!!

According to a local retailer (JB HiFi) where I got the Cygnett case from, Cygnett did a product recall on their cases due to size issues.

It's about 1mm out and doesn't go all the way over the side buttons, leaving it constantly pushing the side.

It's extremely annoying not having a case that fits and I feel like Samsung have been negligent in providing either incorrect specs to manufacturers or having made some of the phones different to others.

The model on the sticker in the back of my phone under the battery is GT-I9195T. I'm guessing it's the T that is different to other versions of this phone.

Is anyone else having this issue of not being able to find a case that fits?

I bought this one.

Fits tightly around the S4 mini and does not add any bulk. The phone still looks very slim and small. Material is of good scratch resistance but probably not a real bumper. It's slightly transparent, so the Samsung logo and the silver pattern of the back cover shines through a bit. Really looks good.
+1 for this case. It's really good! in addition the surface is mat so no fingerprints. they also have mat screen protector films, no fingerprints anymore. the look it's not so shiny but I don't like fingerprints :).

Got mine today. Just what I was looking for. It protects the cover without looking or feeling clumsy. The one I had before was of thicker rubber which would protect the phone better if it drops from the table or the pocket but that won't happen hopefully :).
