I bought the official Samsung flip cover (None S-view) but after a few weeks of being scared of any drops I decided to look for something more rugged.

I decided on the Otterbox Defender which does add a bit of bulk but I think it makes the device easier to hold.

Not a cheap case though cost me £32 here in the UK where Otterbox do not officially sell the case so I bought from Mobilefun.

If anyone wants to see the case on just ask. :)

I just received the same case and it is better than expected. Took less than a week from Germany to UK and less than 10 GBP Inc postage.
This case is so small and thin that it doesn't alter the feel of the phone apart from the texture. It'sthin enough to fit in my S2 desktop charger/dock and also my windscreen mount with the case on.
I can't agree more. The case is slim, scratch and fingerprint resistant. I only got it for less than $2 as shipping to HK is free:

I used to use otterbox commuter for all my phones:

  • galaxy nexus
  • bb9780
  • bb9900

and it gives great protection... but it lacks style. Thats why on my s4 mini i bought the dark brown KALAIDENG Oscar Leather Flip Cover Case for Galaxy S4. Its the same as this video but for the mini instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpWeG4x-y0Q

a bit expensive at about $8; but I didn't haggle much and I didn't know the quality isn't that good.

pros:
  1. very elegant design and various colors to choose from
  2. feels expensive to hold
  3. covers the screen

cons:
  1. the edges crack easily after 2 months of use. it isn't the perfect fit to my phone.
  2. the left side buttons are hidden
  3. opens to the side so it makes the phone a bit thicker when operating with one hand

i like it and if i can find another one at a cheaper price then i would buy again. A different color this time; but I just love the brown look. it the unknowing it screams elegance :). to me; its cheap, and provides enough protection for daily use (pocket-table-car) when closed.

i'm willing to buy something more expensive but it opens vertically and made more classy.

Here is what I use: http://www.amazon.fr/Yousave-Access...3577496&sr=8-21&keywords=coque+galaxy+s4+mini

By far the best case I owned on any phone:

- it has a protective bezel around the screen, so unless you drop it directly with the screen hitting a corner (not the edge) of something sharp, then you are going to be fine (but I'm using screen protector anyway), I hate screwing around with screen flaps, having to open it each time I want to check my phone. With that bezel I have no need to,

- it's made of hard rubber, with rough texture all around it, which makes the grip pleasant and very secure even in wet,

- when people handle my phone, they are surprised when I tell them this is actually a case and not an integral part of the phone. It feels that solid and looks the part (at least on a dark S4 mini),

- it's thin and light, doesn't ad anything noticeable to phone's weight or dimensions,

- it looks elegant and sporty at the same time,

- cheap!

I hike a lot (I use my phone as GPS tracker) and often drop my phone either on rocks or at least pavement or asphalt, and this case protects it perfectly.

The only annoying thing was that I ordered it online the day I bought my brand new S4 mini. One day before it arrived, I was sitting on the terrace and my phone slipped out of my pocket, hit the tiled floor and then fell onto rough pavement made of cut stone slabs 7 meters below :X
I was so pissed I left it lying there for about an hour before a friend picked it up. But - to my surprise - it only had a dent on the edge.
With that case on, my phone would still be flawless.

Get it if you can find it! :good:

I bought this one.

Fits tightly around the S4 mini and does not add any bulk. The phone still looks very slim and small. Material is of good scratch resistance but probably not a real bumper. It's slightly transparent, so the Samsung logo and the silver pattern of the back cover shines through a bit. Really looks good.
Also +1 this case, still keeps that slim feel and doesn't add any real bulk. Keeps the sides and back protected except a tiny strip of the silver stripe on the bottom.

Original cover

Hey guys ! I use the original Samsung flip cover in orange color. So far I'm very satisfied with it, it looks amazing, but I have it for just a month, so I cannot tell the overall rating. :)

Hey guys,

Just thought id try one case which caught my attention on ebay, was only $7 with shipping so though why not. Here's a link, I've attached some shots with it on and comparisons to the phone with no case as to show how much size it adds.

I've gotta say i bought the mini as i wanted a phone that didn't take up my whole pocket and this phone adds quite a bit of size, but definitely a good case for protecting the phone. Not likely to keep it on for that long, ordered a clear "ultra thin" case so will probs swap for that when i get it.

Just picked up the Mini from Sprint for 99 cents. Apparently they are EOL'ing it already. Better get KK before they do. I got it strictly to be a music player and to run with, so I was looking for a holster. Sadly I haven't found a holster for the bare phone. They make cheap case/holster combos all over ebay, but they have this thick back to the case because they square it off so it can fit in the holster face in or face out.

So I turned to Seidio and they're Surface case/holster combo. It's a two piece case that slides over the top and bottom and locks. Has a metal kickstand. The plastic is very thin with a velvet coating on the inside. Their cases are quality in general and expensive. But Best Buy has the combo right now for $25. So I'm giving that a shot. I picked up a basic TPU case for $5 for now, and it might even fit in their holster. Thin, perfect cutouts, and a high lip around the screen which is nice.

I'm using the KRUSELL XL water profe case:

http://www.krusell.se/sv/products/waterproof_cases

It's a bit bigger then the S4mini, but other than that it's great. You get full access to the screen as its fully operational through the silicone front cover. Even photos come out really good since the silicone on the back side is clear over the camera lens.

I've just purchased an imitation of the Spigen Armor case, which doesn't exist for our phone in its original version. I'll post the link to the website once XDA allows me to post links:rolleyes:

Now I am waiting for it to arrive. I think it's going to look great :)
