Absolutely correct...

Sound quality is subjective... People should stop worrying about the amount of impedance... And look for the headphones they like... :cowboy:

I have purchased Sound Magic E80C... Will share my observations, once I test them with my new LG G6 and also with other mobiles/DACs...
Can you please share from where did you buy them in India and the price? Thanks

Guys realy ?Many same question.
Ok then last time.
Minimum OHM 50 ..This working minimum(QDAC) (OR trick search v10 or v20 high gain trick(need special cables)
So 18 ,24 ,33 ,16 NOT trigger..50+?Yes!
But the headphone not all...Need music player .HD music supported professional music palyer: Poweramp(need setup) usb audiplayer pro(need setup) or totaly free HibyMusic player(need setup)
And last...Good quality music(recomendent 24bit 96Khz minumum)Then happaning the magic!
Can you tell how to setup in Poweramp for best effect!!

But it won't trigger the quad dac.Because it has 46ohms similar my apple earpod.Only 50+impedance will trigger the quad dac.
Btw Soundmagic e50 has 50-51ohms.
I use Harman Kardon Soho (32ohm) and Sennheiser HD429 (either 32ohm) with LG G6 and notice the difference between DAC on and off regimes. What do you mean, when you say "Only 50+impedance will trigger the quad dac"?

Your both headphone have special coating on their jack, that's why it triger the quad dac.

Here, there, everywhere

Otherwise just get and impedance adapter like this:
https://m.ebay.com/itm/3-5mm-Impeda...d=381662639828&_trksid=p2056116.c100890.m2460

And test your lower impedance headset with and without it and compare.

If you think impedance will add to sound quality and not just more volume, you don't have to sacrifice your favourite headset...just use a cheap adapter instead...

Just mind the health of your ears and headphones...

I am very sorry for misleading you. Those Sennheiser HD429 and Harman Kardon Soho are recognized as Normal devices so only one out four DACs is activated. Since both headset are decent for their 32 ohm sound quality is good.

But. I've just tried with Beyerdynamic DT 990 both Pro and Premium 250 ohm and discovered sound without any background hiss. Absolutely pure crystal sound. And yes, headphones were recognized as Hi-Fi.

sagor1 is totally right. If you want to get the most from QuadDAC equipped handset - go for 250+ ohm quality headset.

BTW I've got Samsung by AKG earbuds. I am sure these earbuds are best suited for LG G6. I compared to stock LG earbuds, Sennheisers and Beyerdynamic ones - Sammy's AKG is the best. So if you find it under 30 bucks - buy without hesitation. I don't actually think that investing in any earbuds heavily is wise especially if you plan to use em with fantastic QuadDAC handsets.

Everything that plays sound and is plugged in G6's jack triggers the DAC. The problem is that you don't get that much of a sound improvement with lower quality earphones.
When I use my Xiaomi hybrid pro HD the difference between DAC on and off is negligible. And when I long press the HiFi DAC button on the quick panel, I get a "Normal audio device" message. When I plug my Beyerdynamic DT770 pro 80 Ohm, I get a "High impedance audio device" message and the differences are chaotic.

That's true and most intelligent answer

Are there any around the ear headphones with android controls that fully utilize the G6 quad dac?
I bought that one, had my Beyerdynamic's cable cut and put a 3.5mm female plug. It's not that difficult, but wanted to be sure and took them to a professional, those headphones are rather expensive. I paid €20 and now I have a detachable cord with working volume controls. Great mod.

I guess not.Because it has only 32ohm.
You can try a high impedance adapter from ebay 7-8$ with your current headphone.
Just look for the headphone impedance, which has minimum 50ohm.
Note-I am not a sound specialist, i just get some idea after googling.
But this is where it get more interesting , so if you follow your idea , the DAC in LG G6 could only be enjoyed with headphones that have higher impedance , right?
So why then by collaborating with B&O they included Beoplay H3 Earphones that have only 18oHm impedance ? Wouldn't make sense ... or am i missing here something ?

Because they uses special coating on that earphone jack.
It was already mentioned before.

I think for a general amateur audiophile possessing good headphones (say like sony xb950ap), quad DAC on lg g6 doesnt really give a fantastic experience. i have tried it with QDAC on (set by default) and OFF. As somone said having a headphone with bigger specs in impedance and driver (for real audiophiles) should definitely make a difference but by shelling out big money on the headset !

Not necessary to give that much of money for a headset that fully utilizes the quad DAC. Adding about $50 to the Sonys for a total of ~$160, you get the Beyerdynamic DT770 pro 80 ohms, which really make a big difference. I haven't tried headsets with even higher impedance, because I didn't want to end up with a harder to drive headset, I do not own any other hi-spec audio source.

I have tried those headphones but 250 ohm on both my V10 and V30 with good results. So it's possible.
