Hello friends i'm new to this gcam thing. I want to know the basics. Should redmi note 8 be rooted and unlocked bootloader to install this mod? And camera 2api should be enable or is it already enabled?

when will gcam be fully supported on the note 8 ?

the mediatek powered 8pro has already got the wideangle camera support the redmi note 8 should have got it earlier as its snapdragon still no sign of it
also im ready to root my phone for a fully working gcam mod (video @60fps, wide ,macro support ) is there any modder/developer making these gcam mods for our devices

also filmic pro dosent support the cinematographer kit on the xiaomi miui rom
anybody tried this on a custom rom ?

Wide angle and macro needs root on normal RN8.

Disable SELinux with an app, thereafter GCam should be working with wide.

60fps video already works with Parrot's GCam I linked above.

Can you drive us through the process?
Not tried myself yet, but based off others guides:

Unlock bootloader and install TWRP, root via magisk. You can find a good guide for this by searching about in the forums.

Install an app or magisk module to set the SELinux status to permissive (such as SELinux Switch)

Install a multi lens compatible GCam port.
Parrot's 6.3x versions work well (all features, incl 60fps and slowmo 120/240fps) or you could try Arnova's Advanced ports.

Once again, I have not tried any of this procedure as it will void warranty.
