Best overnight charger for battery longevity

Does everyone on here just use the stock charger that came with the phone to use quickcharge overnight? I've switched to using chargers that provide lower current(1-2 amps rather than the stock 3) because I figure if I don't need a speedy charge, I'd rather take it easier on the battery. But I wasn't sure if there have been any credible looks into how regular quick charging effects battery life. So my question is does anybody know if it is beneficial to use a slower charge or if I'm making a bigger deal out of it than it is, and also if the quickcharge standard is supposed to adjust to any input current within range or if it uses only integer values like 2A rather than 1.8 for example, which one of mine is rated at.

it never rains here
My Shumu ( nexus 6 ) charged at 1.5 amps and I have never seen the XL charge at anything other that 1.0 amp.
I have too many chargers honestly. They must be procreating in the darkness of the dresser drawer . . . . Frisky things.
.
I have ( some... am forgetting it all... ) electrical knowledge and so I am dangerous to myself and the people around me . . . . Batteries are happiest with a trickle charge but "NONE' of the phone chargers provide such a thing. . . . The great minds of phone design made the 'charge' process work at peak time and current levels. . Best to not mess with it.
