I have TiBu Pro, and I know how to batch, but I've run into problems before when flashing a new rom (even starting from stock), that once the new rom is live I get tons of force close issues.

After a lot of trial and error, I figured out it was TiBu. I've deleted my whole apps, reinstalled one by one, and now have a fresh system.

What's the best way to backup apps using TiBu to avoid issues with performance and force closes after flashing a new rom?

I really appreciate you help. Thanks!

After you flash a new rom and you restore via TIBU, are you installing "app" only or app and data....?

I never restore data...I only restore app only...and have not had any issues with FC or problems with any of the apps or paid apps....

I only restore data - do you flash back to stock before flashing to new rom? Not sure if that would have an effect.

Yes sir, I do...I use the one click from Qkster to get a good clean plate...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081

He also has wipe scripts that I use also, between the one click or install of ROM...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1561463

Whats funny I am doing it now as I read and reply to your questions, and actually formatted my SD and ext cards...had to clean up been awhile, because I am putting the latest of Aeon on my Infuse ver1.3....

Might be over kill, but it is 99.9 percent clean prior to installing a new ROM, btw I flash few times a week, but my DD is AEON...

and I never install data on a restore for TIBU, always apps only....

Hope it helps...

Do you do a factory reset from the settings menu in the ROM before flashing? I believe this its the key, and I'm not sure doing a factory reset in cwm is the same thing. You can do this once you have used qkster one click to stock to clear all the issues.

Actually follow the op on the ROM your are trying to install...to answer your question...if it still stands...NO
doing a the wip/factory within CWM is best...will kill all your data, but will not format your internal SD card...

By using qkster one click, it will kill and wipe all taking it back to stock, take a read of his op...see my signature block below...

I'm a newb at this. Never bought any apps before always just used free versions. But if I purchase an app from the market. And let's say I forgot to back it up and I flash a new rom. Would I have to purchase said app again or will the market recognize it as I had already purchased it and I can just download it again?

No. The Market keeps track of your purchases. So no need to buy them again.

Additionally if you log on to market place via the computer, you can see keeps history of all your app and paid apps also, you can setup your devices also...and if you setup on your phone you can reinstall via the web from your computer to the phone all your apps, like magic...or think they call it WIFI...LOL...I have done this to put fresh apps on, it is much faster than re downloading on the phone....I then do a new TIBU backup with freshness...of apps...
