I just applied the matte Best Skins Ever to the back of my G2. So a few things...
The skin almost fits the back
perfectly, covering the entire back panel. Because of this, it was pretty tricky getting the corners and edges on. So work your way from center to the edge as usual, then press and hold the edge/corner down with your fingers. I worked my way from the top of the phone to the bottom, using a 10 count before moving to the next spot. I've heard people with similar skins have used an iron on the corners. At this point, I don't think it's necessary for this one. We'll see tomorrow.
So remember, patience is your friend with this one. When you first put it on, it won't look like it will work (I was in "wtf" mode for a moment before giving it some thought). But go slow and apply pressure carefully on those pesky edges and corners.
Looks and feels great so far. Adds a bit of grippiness to it with no visible fingerprints. I also have the matte skin for the front, along with a spare glossy one just in case I hate the matte one. I'll report back after the bonding stage has passed.
edit:
After a few hours of waiting, turns out the bottom corners of the back skin was slightly misaligned, causing the bottom right corner to have a tiny piece that won't stay down. The holes were pretty much lined up, so I'm not sure if it was a user error or manufacturing error. What I ended up doing is using a hot iron to singe the corner (no more than 1-2 seconds at a time). It works like a charm. I applied the same method to the other corners just to be safe, even though they seemed like they were staying down fine.
The front matte skin isn't very appealing to me. I was afraid it would affect the quality of the image too much like most matte/anti-glare skins. I guess I was hoping it would be better than that. I was wrong. Color and dark images look fine for the most part. While viewing bright images however, the shimmery effect is a bit much. I'm a very visual person, so this bothers me way too much. I'll probably keep it on for another day or two. But ultimately, I'm going to switch to the glossy skin.
