Been refreshing Cyanogen Download page and it hurts to see that every Z series device now gets Official Nightly CM12 except Z3, Z3 compact and Z3 tablet compact with sims....
Lol...
But I guess it's just a matter of time now for us..

Edit: Android is upgrading - installing app 1 of 105. Oh boy. I thought I'd note that I still had to manually edit the updater-script to allow the D6653 to install this ROM, even though I don't have a D6653. I think this might just be my TWRP recovery, though, and not a fault with the ROM. We're on app 71...getting there!

Edit 2: We're here. Here's what I noticed.

  • RIL is still broken. I think the fixes that David_Vaz made are important, behind-the-scenes fixes.

  • Brightness has the same issue - it is in 25% segments.

  • The ROM is the same speed.

  • Sound is still working. As is Bluetooth and NFC.

Overall, not many changes. I bet this is a stop-gap release, that fixes some under-the-surface problems with the RIL service. This ROM is based on 5.0.2 (correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the last release was 5.0.1-based). But, in any case, keep up the good work!

[EDIT 3: double tap to wake seems to work]

[EDIT 4: I'm trying to restore to my old backup and it seems to have disappeared. Luckily I backed it up on my computer. I don't know if that was the fault of the ROM (probably not) but just to make sure, back up your phone on your PC!]

You use TWRP? Please, try with CWM (AndroPlus Kernel)

Just had a few texts roll in with the latest build from today. Looks like RIL is working. Testing more to see if it is stable!

Edit: Crash on call out and lost service. Moving in the right direction. Keep at it [emoji3]

The last build i had a few text roll through on boot. Very unstable but will stay connected for a minute or so on boot, then loose it again. allowed me to dial out and ring another phone, crashed directly after. Wont come back without rebooting.

*changing off of LTE to 3g causes a disconnect and needs to be rebooted.
* very unstable on connection.
*always connect for at least a few minutes on boot.

Thanks for your feedback. If you could, grabbing a logcat and posting your findings here, might speed up development. I don't have a whole lot of time to flash right now, otherwise I'd do it myself. :)

Great to hear that the RIL barrier is finally being broken through. Celebrations will soon be in order. :good:
