No matter what I have done, TWRP does not save the settings.
With each boot in the recovery I have to reconfigure it.
Is that so with?

@OldDroid do you think that this will work with the Honor V9 variant? I would love to be able to be able to delete some of the bloatware at the very least on this device and have heard the devices are very similiar in terms of hardware features. Any insight/thoughts would be fantastic, thanks so much for your work

Help in Purchase decision

Just an off topic but important.
As Honor 9 has launched also it confuses me a lot about display size whether to choose Honor 8pro or Honor 9 . Am using a 5.5 inch display fone now...
Just need some good opinions whether I have to go with 5.7 inch Honor 8pro or Smaller 5.2 inch Honor 9 . Will I feel unsatisfied with smaller 5.2 inch Honor 9 ? Rest of the specs am ok with it.
I used to browser net and watch YouTube videos mainly. Please help

Depends on the size of your hand man and your comfort zone. If it was me making the choice, I would go for the Honor 8 Pro because of the bigger battery and screen. It's a little hard to hold but it's worth it. :)

Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs

This TWRP does not work at all. I do not understand how to release something like this to download.
Except root otherwise nothing works here.

I managed to unlock bootloader and install TWRP but stuck after that. Thought I'd managed to make an expensive paperweight as it got caught in a bootloop but managed to wipe and restart again. Very frustrating as all I want to do is get SU on so I can get rid of that bloody hivoice which keeps hijacking as the assistant.
Instructions a bit confusing for me as I'm haven't ever fiddled with encrypted drives and been on nexus 6p before that and one plus one before that so only moved to this one after the google beta broke the nexus :(.
Hopefully one of the wizards on here will take pity and help with a root kit or something?! Would be definitely something I'd contribute a few sheckles for for beer!

You mean you got stuck in bootloop after flashing SU?

perform a dload flash,

ie., download any firmware for your model, extract the zip, you will find a folder called dload

you need to coppy that folder to your scdard

then if you have stock recovery,
1. switch your phone off,
hold power and both volume keys untill honor logo apears
and then everything eill be done by the phone itself, and it will reboot to system

if you have twrp installed,
just open the dload folder that you have downloaded,
you will find an update.app
you need to extract recovery.img from that update.app using huawei firmware extractor

and flash that recovery (use either twrp or fastboot)
and then perform the step 1

works fine here ..
work not fine here
If I with twrp-3.1.1-1-duk.img for guidance decrypt (format / data inside of TWRP) missing all possible apps of B130 Rom.
Backup of data is not possible without decrypt also a recovery without data ends in the bootloop
Root also works with 2.6.SuperSU2.82-noveritySelEnforcing
