As far as GApps, you don't need to reflash GApps on a dirty flash. In theory, reflashing GApps shouldn't hurt, since it should remove existing GApps before installing. However, if you have updated any of the GApps through the playstore, and you flash and older GApps build, you will downgrade the app in question, which may cause issues.

I hope that makes things clear as mud! :)
As a long time flashaholic, I had had other developers say there is a need to re download GApps... So with that in mind i thought it would be worth asking in the forum :)

Well, it really depends on the rom. Aokp backs up your GApps during install. So no need to reflash GApps.
Good to know!

So I took the plunge and did the PL1 update! It was painless so I feel silly waiting so long to do it...

I did a fresh install and I like what you did with the 'invertied' colors of the quick settings tiles. I can now read the choices when I edit them.

But I still cant seem to get the hotspot working again.
As I reported, I was able to get it working fine when I did the first install of your beta build..... I then went to tweak it a little and next thing you know it says there is no internet connection. To recap I have:

Updated all my latest baseband and modem
Flashed back to stock and did a PRL update, GPS lock.
Did a clean install of each version of your build then Im installing the latest GApps package.
Wipe Cache and Davalik.
Test with another phone that has successfully tethered in the past.
It tells me I am connected, but no internet access.
I removed the password and changed the SSID of the hotspot and still no access.

I am able to restore my old KitKatKiller ROM and the hotspot is working again.
Is this an event I can capture on the Logcat?

I know this may be going beyond what you are doing with this build, but you got me addicted to Oreo! I would love to keep using it especially since I just got everything else all set up just the way I wanted it.

Any thoughts would be very well received!

New Release!

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that there is a new build up! And yes, this includes builds for hlte/hltechn/hltekor/hltetmo! The only significant change on this build is a new commit that MAY fix video recording! If this build fixes video recording, I am going to see if I can get official nightly builds turned on for hlte* devices. I know that bt audio is still an issue for some, but once video recording is fixed all of the major features will be working, even if still a bit buggy. So please, test this build, especially video recording, and let me know what you find!

I wish I could use this as a daily driver, and I will as soon as I figure out a hotspot workaround!

I definitely want to do what I can to support this build. I want to keep the project alive!

Update....

I was able to get the Hotspot working using an editor to add ,dun to my APN so that seems to work on my build of your 4/23 version. But... I got the BT issues mentioned earler. So I will try and dirty flash your 5/14 version and see if that helps..

Alas, the bluetooth is all static on phone calls on both my vehicle and my earpiece. I have Hotspot working and even have Xposed running!

Is there a particular logcat you would like to help with the BT issue?

Bluetooth won't work on my Honda Accord, but will work on my wireless headset.

I have been looking in the generic Samsung Note 3 development forum for Oreo and it seems to be a very well known issue.

I suppose the only thing that confuses me is when I first did the install on this ROM the Bluetooth works just fine with all my devices but when I did a second but fresh install nothing seems to work.

So I have tried it on my Plaintronics Voyager Pro with no avail. I also tried a clean install with no BT success.

Yeah, Bluetooth is a very hit-and-miss situation on Oreo. When I was using my LG G3, with AOKP Oreo, my Plantronics Legend worked, most of the time. But every so often, I would get nothing but static when I tried to make or receive a call. In the case of my G3, simply switching from BT to phone and back would clear up the issue, but ymmv.

New AOKP Oreo Build

Alright guys, I FINALLY have had the chance to get a new set of builds together and uploaded. Sorry there was such a delay since my last build, I have had a crazy few weeks. Anyway, these builds do not have any major changes, aside from the volume boost that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. I am still looking into bluetooth issues, but no luck yet, as it seems to be a very widespread issue on AOSP-based Oreo ROMs in general, especially for older legacy devices such as the Note 3. I have requested for Team Kang to Officially fork my hltetmo/hltechn/hltekor sources and get all four hlte* devices going on Official status, but I haven't received a reply yet. This is likely due to it being summer and everyone being busy with their families. Bear with for a bit, and hopefully we can get Official status soon.

As always, download links are in the OP, and a full changelog between the 05/14 build and this one is available at the download link. Enjoy!
Oh, and the hltetmo build is timestamped several hours later than the others, that is because the hltetmo build failed for some reason. Because I run my builds via a script, and I run it at night, I didn't get to see what caused the fail, so I simply restarted the hltetmo build this afternoon, and it completed successfully. I don't get it, but whatever, lol. Anyway, all four of the builds have the same commits and changes applied, so despite their differing timestamps they were all compiled from the same source.

P.S. For those few of you who do take a look at the changelog file, don't get too excited when you see the commit under vendor/aokp that says "add hltechn/hltekor/hltetmo to officially supported devices." That is a commit that I authored as part of the process for making these devices official. I have pushed it to the AOKP Gerrit, but I still have to wait for all of the sources to be forked and that commit to be accepted before the devices will become official.

The good news keeps on coming! Thank you for keeping up with this project and as always I am more than happy to do what I can to move it forward....

Now the circle will be complete when the *&^#* BT issues get ironed out!!

Thanks!

Every time I try to install this rom I get the error "com.android.phone has stopped." It appears so frequently that I can't complete the setup.

I'm on the PL1 update, using opengapps nano (ARM, android 8.1). Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Edit: The 5/14 version seems to be working. The newest one does not (even with a dirty flash).

I thought it was just me. I found the 5/14 version was a little more stable than the 6/3. I thought it was because I had already customized it and backed it up with TWRP. But when I dirty flashed the 6/3 on top of the 5/14 it seemed to behave better.

I have a new lead on the rotation bug. According to some users in the other thread, the 6/16 build of LOS has the rotation issue fixed. I am going to try to pull in the latest commits this weekend and get a new build up before I head off to vacation next week.
Anything on the Bluetooth issuses?

New AOKP Oreo Build

Hey guys, I finally got the chance to do a new build for hlte/hltechn/hltekor/hltetmo AOKP Oreo. This build has all of the latest changes to the base AOKP code, along with some device specific changes. The biggest change is an update to mpdecision, Qualcomm's proprietary hotplugging driver. We changed to the mpdecision from another device so that we could eliminate a shim lib. According to some users, the LOS build 06/16 has the rotation issue fixed, and this is the only change of note between the earlier LOS builds and the 06/16 build, so here's to hoping it fixes rotation for us as well. A full changelog of the differences between this build and the last is available on the download site as always. Those of you that have been experiencing the rotation bug, please test this out and let me know if it is fixed!

Also, I am heading on vacation this week and weekend, so I probably won't be answering questions as regularly, and there will most likely not be a build next weekend. I am also going to wait until after my vacation to continue pursuing official status for hlte/hltechn/hltekor/hltetmo.
