Hi
Ok, I have searched the net and found very few cases without the magnets, the official Samsung book cover looks as though if you dropped it, the tablet would just slide out, so protection wise, it seems useless, I might consider the official keyboard case if it can be folded round the back of the tablet, so using the tablet with the stylus to take notes etc (although the lack of camera cutout is still annoying) can anyone confirm it folds nicely and lies flat against the rear of the tablet ?
So if anyone has found a case, without the magnets, I would appreciate your help, links to where it can be purchased and thoughts

thanks
Trev

I've got the keyboard case. Yes, it folds behind the Tab S3. It doesn't have magnets so there is no waking on opening or screen off on closing. I use a screen off widget so I can cut down on always using the power button. I've gotten used to it now so it really doesn't bother me.

Hi

Many thanks for replying, I do not think I would need a keyboard enough to pay the extortionate $160 Samsung UK want for the case, especially when I see Best Buy have it for $64 in the US
So I Have ordered the standard Samsung book cover, at least that has the camera cutout :) and no magnets to damage the screen
(I presume the magnets have an effect on the screen all the while, even when the tablet is asleep, you only notice it when trying to use the S pen, so maybe that's why the damage becomes permanent with long term exposure to the magnetic field)

The issue i've always had with my official Samsung folder case is that even though I have my Tab S3 set to lock instantly when hitting power button or closing the case, sometimes when opening the case and the screen wakes actually bypassing the [email protected]@@ing screen lock!! This must happen every 50 opens or so. Quite a bad security bug and cannot find anything on google about it. Such a mess the Tab 3, I hope the Tab S4 comes with the latest SoC and some actual optimization next time.

It's called Smart Screen.

I use the paid version so can't say if the free version is crippled in any way.

Hi guys, was wondering if anyone here is using the Fintie case linked below or any other case by Fintie. Would like to know if this case contributes to the same magnetic interference for the S Pen as I'm interested in getting this case.

Hi,

I do not have any experience with this case, but as soon as it mentions "auto wake" you can be sure it contains magnets,

you could always try it and see, easy returns with Amazon

Hmm I can't find any case without magnets, I remember seeing someone somewhere saying something about Fintie's cases using weak magnets, weak enough to not affect the S Pen while keeping the auto wake feature but I can't find that post now. I don't care about the auto wake feature so if I can find a case without magnets at all that would be great too. I really want a case with a holder for the S Pen though. Not sure how easy is Amazon's returns if I'm outside of US (I'm in Malaysia).

If anyone is interested in knowing , this case has 5 magnets and I removed them all. If you're interested in knowing their locations hit me up and I'll be more than happy to share.

Can you please post an image of the magnet locations? I suspect that any cover with magnets will have them located in the same place.

I have not seen any Tab S3 covers w/o magnets. Magnet damage is permanent, but there is a tool can can reset it, I forgot the name of it and it is usually very expensive (~$1000..?) I use the protective back case and the iPad 9.7 carry case.

You guys got me freaking out now. How long was it before the case affected or ruined the digitizer? I got my tablet a month ago and put a procase case on, it has 2 magnets on the edges of the case and then 2 directly above the screen above 1/3rd in from the left when in portrait mode. The magnets are around 2mm from the screen. I haven't noticed any issues yet though. Also everyone on Amazon UK seems to have rated the case really well, 97 reviews and its almost all 5 stars. I asked the question on the product page to see if anyone who has been using the case long term has seen any issues with the screen or pen accuracy.

Edit: I worked myself up to the point of digging out the 2 magnets that trigger the auto-sleep/wake (green circles in image). They were right above the screen and I considered these the highest risk so they were extracted.

There are 6 more magnets (red circles in image), in pairs, they aren't directly above the screen though they're on the edges of the tablet and used solely to hold the cover/flap down secure when it is closed. Do you think it is safe to leave these magnets in place?

My 1st one did this, but I discovered that I only had dead spots when I had the front cover folded behind it. The magnets mess with the s-pen, because it operates off of wireless charging tech, which uses magnets.

Sorry guys, I've been quite absent as of lately!

I have MULTIPLE cases to share :D Tomorrow I'll take pictures of each case and show you where all the magnets are and how to get them out. Sadly, some of them I've "destroyed" to get them out, but all in the name of science and not breaking my tablet :D So tomorrow I'll share!

It seems the black variant of this one has Auto sleep function (at least according to the description on amazon page). So, I guess, has magnets as well.
