So, it's been quite a long time since I've visited BGR. I stopped reading after one of the site reformats long ago, as the new layout was unappealing and I hated all the new clickbait ads. I came across this article on a generic Google search of the P2XL. Once I read the title of his 'review' - "Google can’t make a good phone and it’s embarrassing" - I thought to myself "Well, that's a good way to draw my attention". Especially given the mostly good reviews I've read so far. Looking forward to a productive counter perspective, I read the article. I will say, it is certainly a different perspective. It is also piss poor journalism.
I often value criticism about products, especially from any news site bold enough to do so (lest they be ostracized by OEMs, or even threatened by lawsuits for bad reviews - as happens regularly in the hi-fi/high end audio world). Despite the URL link containing "google-2-xl-review-vs-iphone-x-comparison", and even the title of the article, he's not really doing a review of the Pixel 2 XL here. Hell, it's even a country mile from being a comparison. It is just a rant about how Jon hates Android and round corners.
If you're going to write an article and call something trash, you need to back up your opinion.** Explain WHY you think what you do. With facts. Leave subjectivity out of it. Your rant about round corners on the P2XL makes little sense, for example, given your site's heaping praise of the iPhoneX.

Look at all those round corners...
If the sole reason the P2XL sucks is because certain things are done better by an iPhone, then I'll argue that the inverse is also true. The iPhone sucks because Android phones do things better too. It's circular reasoning about very subjective points, and is basically meaningless.
I really hope your articles improve Jon. I don't mind opinion pieces, but don't be a sophist and mislead readers by calling this a review or comparison. Back up your opinion with more logic and less venom. As Editor-in-chief you should demand better of yourself.**
Cheers.
** Well, you do if you expect anyone to take you seriously, anyway.
