After having hands-on time with it I actually really like the size.
That's what she said. Lol. :D

On topic, I think the One Mini is a great idea for the consumer that wants premium in a smaller phone. I know my wife would like the One Mini better than the ONE because her hands are small but doesn't want an iPhone.

The HTC One Mini will be officially announced tomorrow morning and I hear that it no longer has Infrared or NFC??

I know NFC isn't really taking off massively (although some operators are getting up to speed to allow mobile payments, such as EE in the UK that launched Cash On Tap today) but it seems a rather odd thing to take out.

Infrared is perhaps less of an issue. I used it for a while on my HTC One and then realised I preferred to just use my ordinary remote!

My issue is, going off of the leaked comparison photos, the Mini is almost the same size as the One, making me say "what's the point?". If it's not at least half the size of the One, don't bother, because consumers are going to look at it and say, for dealing with just a little bigger phone I could have significantly better specs.

On the recessed camera lens discussion, it's beyond me on why this wasn't done on the One. What makes it worse is that they have already addressed this issue with previous models (i.e. Evo LTE). After fixing something, why break it again!? I never used a case before, but now I have to so I'm able to set down my One without worrying about scratching/cracking the camera lens.

The One mini isn't much smaller so it's an odd name for sure. It is a much lower spec, and intended to be a lot cheaper (to attract more customers) but mini it isn't.

So far the only company that has made a smaller version of its flagship appears to be Sony with the ZR, but that's not widely available.
