I'm having this problem for almost a year now. The problem is with the screen. After a week or so once every month my mi3 goes Blank without any preceeding problems at all. The on screen buttons are on and the phone is also on that I can confirm by using the volume keys and the power key.
Sometimes the phone screen turns on automatically after few days sometimes not. Then I have no other option but to use fastboot.
I would like to add that my screen got broke and got replaced from service Centre and since then this problem started happening. But i personally don't think this has anything to do with it.
It's nearly been an year now and I have tried all possible solution at all leading forums. I think there is something to do with proximity sensor but tried all solution for that too.
Any help would be acknowledged.
