"Blinking" charging using non-offitial charger

Hi all,

I just bought two Moto G5s plus phones: (supposedly) identical, with just different colours.

Both of them charge properly using most of my chargers (including the ones coming together with the phone, and other older ones). But using one specific old HTC charger, one of the g5s+ does not charge, and enters into a "blinking" charging state: it does not charge, but continuously shows a connection/disconnection of the charging. I can upload a video if requested.

If both phones did the same weird thing with that specific charger, I would be at ease... But the fact that only one does it, seems to show that it is not working properly... I already restarted the phone several times, and the effect also happens when turned off.

Do you know if the problem can be solved? Could it be associated to a wrong model/mother board? Or is it normal to see such features between phones?

Thank you for your help!

Very simple to fix - don't use that charger

It just draws more current then the charger can provide and overloads it. Usually this is due to a badly engineered charger. Just don't use it as it can get down on your battery. Those batteries are like princesses that should be taken care of with great consideration. Drawing more current could be due to a some app that wants more power or it could be just a miscommunication between the battery, phone and the charger. As you know everything is "smart" this days... from the battery itself to the charger.

Thank you both for the fast answers!

I see. So the difference may not be related to a difference between the "hardware quality" of both phones, but to the actual current that was required by that phone at that specific time.

Seems to make sense. I will stop using that charger then. Thanks!
