would flashing the stock system image from non ad version also work.?

I have BLU_R0011UU-V12-GENERIC 27-06-2016

I have the 16gb no ad. the file is 2.6 gb so dont want to upload it if it will not be of any use
I would love to pull the firmware from that device all partitions for testing. I think we may be able to flash and fully convert the Amazon model to normal Blu R1 HD. Do you know how to pull all the partitions?

I have them already from before any root was published. Also twrp version of all partitions.
But I don't know about share the partition that has sn, or imei. I think it is nvram or nvdata.

I can share to you a Google drive link and maybe you will host on your site if deemed usefull?

For people not willing to download 1.3GB of data to remove a few files I updated the original ad removal post with TWRP install files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67892852&postcount=567
It's only 3kb :)

This updated method remove the need of wiping the data and will remove all ads, even the one currently displayed on the lock screen.
Root or exposed are not required (only TWRP obviously) so it won't affect the device security.

I created 2 scripts, one to clean everything, the other one leave the Underground app store in the system, your choice.
If you use it a lot, it's nice as it will update the apps automatically without the need of allowing unknown sources.

OTA are disabled by renaming the updater. Safer than the previous method (pm disable and pm hide), and safer than deleting if we need it later.
So in this way all installed apps will be there, right? I just don't wanna do a factory reset as I have installed over 40 apps.

Tomgst:

If you remove the files located in: /data/data/com.android.systemui/files/ the static/default Amazon Ads are removed from the lockscreen.

You can't. The ROM is only for the /system partition. This is in the /data so this is not in the ROM. You still need to either use the adb commands from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67947952&postcount=860 or delete / edit them in a file explorer.

That's why the TRWP script is a cleaner way to do it, just saying ;)

Is there a method to go back the the original software? I got stupid and did this right after receiving the phone and didn't even realize it has a dead pixel on the display so I have to get it replaced by Amazon.

There are two files now in that directory

SP_Flash_Tool_BLU_R0010UU_V6.4_Firmware.zip1.32GB

?*SP_Flash_Tool_BLU_R0011UU_V12_Firmware.zip1.03GB

What is the difference between the two?
The v6.4 is stock firmware for the ad supported and the v12 is the nin ad supported firmware(only system, boot, and stock recovery)

Hi Guys its Rootjunky here and i put together some files for you. Note that this system images is based on custom build version BLU_R0010UU_V6.4_GENERIC and if you use it on other builds you make have problems.

VIDEO TUTORIAL
How to remove amazon ads and ota updates
Steps
1. Download SP-Flash-Tool-Remove-Amazon-Ads-plus-ota-updates.zip
2. Extract the SP-Flash-Tool-Remove-Amazon-Ads-plus-ota-updates.zip to your desktop. Note 7zip is great to extract files.
3. lauch Flash_tool.exe
4. select scatter-loading and browser to load MT6735_Android_scatter_R1_HD_NO_ADS.txt
5. click download button to start.
6. now plug your phone into the computer. to boot the device to preloader and start the flash. You can do it two ways: 1. power off the phone and flash will start or 2. From a powered off stat power on the device while plugged into the computer. either way will start the sp flash tool.
7. once the flash is complete you can unplug the device and reboot it. Congrats you have removed the ads and ota updates from the Amazon Blu R1 HD. Bounce you have also enabled bootloader unlocking if you want it.

NOTE: ads may still be on the lock screen after this process if so please factory reset the device to remove those ads that are saved in userdata. or if you follow Bootloader unlock Method 2 steps 1-8 your userdata will get wiped in the process

Ok so my Blu R1 HD Prime will be here anytime today, is this quoted guide the most current or has it been replaced with a more efficient method? My goal is remove ads, TWRP recovery, unlock bootloader, root and block OTA.

Ok then, do you foresee any issue with flashing the v12 normal R1 varient, and then at a later time reflashing with the Prime varient. I mean a flash to either one will completely rewrite the partitions(my assumption) so there would be little to no chance of extra data or corrupt data remaining going from one varient to the other?? I hope that made sense.. lol

Also one other question, once the bootloader is unlocked will it survive flashes? Or would we have to unlock again? My rush to get everything done, is I don't want to get some OTA overnight and find out my hopes of a few custom roms will be ripped away because I waited that extra day
