Sorry to resurface this thread. But I'm noticing this problem with the Pixel XL too. And I know it is the Pixel XL because I use the same BT devices with my Nexus 6 with zero issues. Sorry, somehow entry went before I was ready.
When it stutters a complete restart fixes it. And I can cause it to stutter by turning the BT device off then back on. When playback resumes the stutter is back. How can Android be so messed up with BT in 2017?

The only time my Bluetooth has ever gotten choppy is when I was using WiFi to stream and reception got flaky.

The only BT issues I've ever had on Pixel were the same as every other phone.
Sometimes I have to reboot before it'll pair with new devices.
And very occasionally I may have to reboot before it'll repair my car when the car BT turned off and back on, like turning off the car for a moment.

BT technology in itself is a little flaky and I can't wait for a newer, better tech to come along that does the same thing but with more reliability, better pairing options and longer range.

I've found that 2 of the 3 speakers I have stutter, the ue seems to be OK. My son's Pixel had the same issue so it's not a bad phone. I guess I need to decide if I'm going to put up with it or not.
I have a 2014 tacoma, ue boom, jbl earphones and none of these skip with my pixel xl. I used to have a range issue but one of the updates fixed that for me.

MIne was skipping/stuttering on the initial and up to May stock OS but with June and now with Pure Nexus June edition, doesn't happen anymore. Something in the June version fixed mine. Working great paired with KIA Bluetooth Audio (KIA Optima 2014)

Can anyone else weigh in on their recent experiences? I'm looking at doing a trade tonight, but I don't see the point in doing a trade if it won't fix my issue. Really, other than the bluetooth issue, I like the G6.

had the issue way back when fixed.
Then resurfaced with May update
fixed with june

no reason to believe that it will not break again and get fixed again.

just bought the pixel today, 6/29/17. Updated to 7.1.2 (the update was waiting for me, so I figure this is the latest update).
This bluetooth issue is still present. It's terrible!
I'm going back to wired headphones for time being

After I posted yesterday that it was no problem, today I was driving listening to music on a rural road and then came to a little area with several stores and what do you guess happened? Started stuttering. Popped up "wireless networks available" at the same time so I think f1ux's post above is right on the money.

My phone does it as well and it seems to do it when I have it in my pocket and move in certain positions so it's odd. I thought it was a hardware issue or something or loose connection. Turning off WiFi does help.

Sorry to dig up an old thread.

I am also experiencing this issue, it's definitely the phone because happens with two pairs of headphones I own.

I turned WiFi off, and I still experience this issue. It seems to be when my phone in my pocket and my hand either covers or touches the top part of the phone - bizarrely the phone doesn't seem to do it when it is out of my pocket and in my hand, tried to cover the phone and there's no stutter.

Surely my coat+my hand can't cause that much of a blockage for the bluetooth signal?

Did anyone manage to fix this?
