I appologize if my post came across a little insulting (as is the tone i get from your response) I was just ligitimately curious. I named the Opitmus because at free or close to free on contract it wouldnt add much to the up-front cost and being android you could tether it free with a hack...

And i didn't think my comment was completely useless. using the Tab alongside a smaller cheaper android device would full fill the needs requested in this thread. get contacts receive messages/ notifications and make phone calls. Maybe just kinda opposite. instead of the Tab doing EVERYTHING and the handset just being a "dumb" device. The phone could either complement the Tab on the cheap or fully provide it with internet by tethering... just another option...
OK sorry if I misunderstood. Agreed with you, and it's very possible I'll go the way you suggested (But I'd prefer the 2 devices to have the same number and I don't want to spend my time switching SIMs)

YUP thats why i make sure my mobile data is off and just use wifi.

i think its mainly people just still want to use the same number but be able to have the large tab put aside only when needed but everything still accessible on a secondary device without having to take out the tab just to check message or make calls.. but when u need the realistate u have the option of taking it out and not having to deal with two different numbers that people call u on as well as msg u on.

for me im used to carrying multiple devices on me, but an ideal solution would be a device that can receive all the msgs, reply and calls and phone-book from the tab but still be using the devices number. To me it would be nice if it didn't look like a phone, thats why i have the live view but its still not perfect since u can't reply and its not as user-friendly as it should be.
We are both looking for exactly the same thing... I have to check whether cloning SIM v2 has been successful somewhere... That could be a way to own a small phone and the tablet using the same number...

Don't think sim cloning is possible, but obviously that would be nice.

Someone mentioned this earlier:

The LG HBM-700.

They are only $22 on ebay, refurb'd, so I went ahead and grabbed one to give it a try... and my initial impression is: yes.

It certainly won't do for everyone, but it looks to suit my needs: bluetooth'd handset with an LCD for caller-id and it essentially works as a small phone extension for the Tab. And did I mention that it is tiny? About 4 inches long with a pen clip on the back.

I just got it, so we'll see how I grow into it.

For the ones who wanted ot order in Taiwan the "Bluetooht phone" you cna probably order it directly from alibaba:

...
I found the seller's website, can't post it here as I'm still new.
Just google for "Bluetooth stereo headset with keypad" and you'll get them.

Looks like they're a big wholesaler from China.
I ordered from them, cost $35 + $15 EMS shipping to Singapore.
Will wait to get it and report on my findings.

Just ordered one. Let's see how long shipping needs to Germany. I will report if you can change the language. Hope it's possible. Else I burned my money.

I don't understand why US people are even looking for something like that little blue tooth "cell phone like thing" you should not have even bothered getting a tab with voice on it or hacking voice onto it. just get the US Tab with 3G and an LG optimus phone for cheap/ free.... I would have thought the point of having voice on your tab would be to avoid carrying around a cell phone and a tablet...

I guess i can see not wanting to contracts etc... but really you're probably better off getting an LG Optimus, then root and tether is to the tab... IMHO...
What is nice is that you can completely use your tab as a separate phone line. Even as a ' player' phone if one is so inclined... ;-)

Model T159801. Interesting gadget. Really looking forward to seeing reviews about it ! :)

Apparently the same as QLA BR950: http://www.google.co.uk/images?q=QLA+BR950

EDIT: also rebranded as Xero XBS-08: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Xero+XBS-08

They go for only 1650 TWD which is about $50 US - not bad. Even if shipping was double that, I'd buy one. The trouble is, I haven't found any places willing to ship.
I was able to confirm the QLA BR950s does show phonebook and make dial-out calls as well - the thing is exactly what I'm looking for; this is frustrating!
This is also exactly what I am after. Also frustrated that I cannot find someone shipping to Australia. Anyone who can assist, would be much appreciated.

What happened to the Galaxy Tab Stylus....?

I am pretty sure I am not the first one to think along these lines, so I am seeing if anybody has heard any announcements along these lines from hardware companies, as I would be very interested in this kind of setup.

Basically, what I have in mind is a sort of bluetooth-connected phone, with a minimal screen and numberpad that would be paired with a tablet with voice capabilites to act as a real phone while the tablet is tucked away in a bag or pocket. So basically you could treat it as a phone, while the tablet is actually doing all the work.
.............
wasn't that the original idea behind the Galaxy Tab Stylus that never got released?

i personally had pre-ordered it from a European vendor back when the Tab was announced in Sept but samsung never went through and produced the accessory.

This stylus was supposed to allow us to use it on the Tab for handwriting and would contain both software for recognition and also allow the Stylus to be used as a Bluetooth speaker/phone/mic to the Tab.

we should petition Samsung to actually release that device!!

plus, i wanted originally for my iPad (that i sold for my tab) to use as a capacitive stylus mainly :)

Hi
I just received the CHinazrh BT miniphone but no sound output from the phone headset only thru stereo earphone, seems like no speaker or it is faulty. Does anyone had the miniphone to advise. Understands QLA BR950S does act like a phone, working headset as review.
Thanks

I want one but I don't know if I can trust their website. Anyone order from them berofe? Shipping cost to North America?
i have ordered one from them and they shipped to me within 3 days.. Its working good now with my Nokia E72. i think you can register and see the shipping cost to North America.. they have given different option for shipping.. cheaper and faster..

i dont think shipping will be more that $30 if you choose DHL or EMS..

Conflictual reviews here. Anyone else managed to place a call without the wired headphones ?

Interesting to see that model T159801 from ChinaZRH is apparently the same device as model BR950 from QLA. See the link below:

Just a rebranding for the global market place ?

I have been looking at getting a T159801 but also wanted to make sure you could use it without the headset as this is a deal breaker. Any reviews would be great.

Also at the risk of soumding stupid I would like to ask two questions.
1. What is meant by tethering and what does this achieve and what are the pros and cons of this.
2. Would a conventional blue tooth pc handset for VoIP not also work?
cheers

Hey,

I got the Mini Bluetooth Telephone that thangquynho shown on the forum.

This is my findings:

The internal speaker work ok for calls and even playing music.

The headset that comes with it work as well.

When you receive a call the mini bluetooth telephone make a beep and it vibrate as well it shows the number that is calling but not the name.

I could not managed to sync my phone book with the mini bluetooth telephone all I was get when I tried to sync the phonebook was Fail.

If anybody knowns how it can been done please let me known.

The keyboard is illuminated which is a good thing if you hgave to dial in the dark.

Overall is a new little device its ashame that the contact cannot get uploaded to the mini bluetooth telephone then this would a been a great little device.

If anybody needs any another info please let me known

Ciao
