motorokr t505 FTW.
+1 for the motorokr T505

i had the opportunity to play with one for a couple of days and at first i was a little skeptical about it but after a few days with it i was really impressed with the quality not only with the on-board speaker but with the fm transmitter clarity. of course u have to find the right station to get the best reception but it does take long to set up. definitely gonna pick one up in the next couple of days...

Based on the advice of this thread I picked up a (questionably) "new" Kensington LiquidAUX off Ebay for $30 (steal). So far it works perfect. Audio sounds crystal clear, minus some car interference noise (which I'll get to in a minute). Hands free phone on the remote works great with Skyraider 2.5.2. Others do get that "far away" feeling from my voice, however, so we'll see if I actually use that part.

Concerning the interference, there's a couple of solutions. First, I picked up a ferrite clip at a local electronics store for $3 and this helped with 90% of the noise, as it likely comes from the power source. This is advisable for any aux input device.

Second, Kensington will ship a better solution free of charge to you for noise. See kensington dot custhelp dot com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1113/ . In 10 days I should have an excellent solution.

Noise was an issue but has nothing to do with the liquid aux. I had to buy a noise suppressor. Don't remember where but search for alternator noise or engine noise. There are several solutions out there. Mine looks like a big capacitor that's in series with the 12 volt line. There might be an inductor in there as well. All I know is I have NO engine noise, or noise of any kind.

Edit: This is NOT the exact noise filter I have, but it serves the same purpose.

Thanks for the info and link. There's always something else to do ehh?

I'm going to try to avoid taking the dash apart, if possible!

If your radio has Aux in or RCA In - what i used is the Blackberry Music Gateway.
it works Great it is usb powered so i wired up a usb outlet behind my radio and connected all back there.

i have never been a big fan of the FM stuff.

DI Bluetooth Observations and Frustrations

Hi All. First post regarding my DI. Had both a Hermes and Kaiser before this so was well aware of the wonderful XDA. On to the subject at hand...

I also have a T505 and it does work very well, especially considering the issues the DI has with Bluetooth. Most of you know or have read about problems with the Bluetooth stack in our phones - I have experienced it first hand. I had a little device for in car bluetooth calls/music called a Soundfly BT. It is very similar to the one referenced in post #5 by ckirkp79 and it worked flawlessly with my Kaiser, so I know the issues I had with it when I tried to use it with the DI were not with the SoundFly. It would only pair after several attempts, and then only the Media Audio side. Trying to playback music through it resulted in constant dropouts every few seconds. Couldn't even pair it with the phone side to try that. Again, let me repeat that the problem lies with the DI as it worked flawlessly with the Kaiser, a 3 year old phone.

Now I love my DI (as I'm sure you all do too) and I was hoping that the 2.2 updates would solve this problem. So I rooted my phone and applied Skyraider 2.5.2 with Sense UI along with the 2.15 radio and gave it a go - no difference. Some postings had speculated that the Bluetooth stack problems were due to conflicts with the Sense UI, so I also tried flashing to the Vanilla Skyraider - again, no difference. I'm beginning to wonder if this is a hardware issue, not a software issue. Whenever the OTA update finally hits I'll check into this again to see if it's solved, but I'm not holding my breath.

All this to say that yes, the T505 does work well with the bluetooth-challenged DI, but the physical design of the SoundFly is much more compact and just fits better in my car. I'll keep using the T505 but it's pretty bulky by comparison.

C'mon HTC - I happen to think you're one of the best cell phone makers on the planet! Fix this stupid little issue with the DI so it can take it's rightful place among the cell phone elite.

FWIW, I'm running Skyraider 2.5.2 and bluetooth pairing with the LiquidAUX works perfectly every time, pairing as soon as I get in the car, for both phone and music (although the phone quality isn't great, thats because of the kensington device). I used it for 12 hours over the past week on a car trip with skips only once, which resolved themselves after about 20s. I do wonder if it is a hardware issue, or a hardware compatibility issue.

I would not recommend the first motorMOUTH from Scosche but the successor they just released is fantastic. I received the motormouth II last Friday and have been using it daily since then.

http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1919

It gives you a lot of flexibility in where you want to put it. If you have an aftermarket head unit with an AUX jack on the front, you can just pop the microphone/BT receiver in the AUX jack and be done with it. If your car is like mine and the AUX jack is in the cup holder area or glovebox, they include an extension cord with a base that you can screw or sticky tape to your dash where ever you want.

Once its plugged in, you just pair it like any other BT device. Streaming music gets routed to your radio via bluetooth to the BT receiver then to your radio via 3.5mm cable so no more FM transmitter garbage. They actually include a Y splitter for your jack if you don't want to lose the ability to plug in iPods etc. Incoming calls of course take priority over music and the microphone is excellent. I mounted mine near a vent and no one can tell I'm in my car let alone have the air on settings 1-3 out of 5. 4 they can notice and 5 they hear a hurricane.

I will take pics of my set up and post tomorrow. Its the next best thing to a factory integrated solution IMHO.
