If I want to switch back to stock can I change it from the theme manager or do I have to reflash the stock animation as well?
you would've replaced the file. so easiest is to copy back the file or flasht the .zip OP has mentioned (It will be under a new folder /sdcard/boot animation...) Just load the .zip via TWRP and it automatically restores stock. Else copy it using procedure outlined in OP

I'm going to add all of this to the OP when I get a free minute here, but the CM11 Theme Manager will see my installed boot animation as the stock one that comes with the ROM, so you will have to manually restore the old one before seeing it in your default theme again. You can change to another boot animation via the Theme Manager, but the stock one will stay as mine until you either flash the "undo" zip file or manually replace the backed-up stock boot animation.
Awesome! Thank you!

If you're referring to the stock Android L boot animation, then yes, I'm already working on it! Classes just started for me, so I may be a bit busy for a while, but I'll work on this as much as I can.
Hmm nope, I'm talking about de OnePlus One stock boot animation, but I started to work on that already (OnePlus One boot animation + ctOS boot animation).
Still I want to see your new animation of Android L :D

Sorry for my bad english, i'm spanish haha D:

No worries on your English, it sounds just fine to me!

And on the animation, I just finished a OnePlus/ctOS hybrid one you may be interested in... see what you think:

Here's the bootanimation.zip, just replace it using the instructions in the OP.

I just stumbled upon this and I think it looks awesome!
I, who have never built an app before, managed to build a CM11 theme app, so I didn't have to root my device to install this. So, may I suggest you do the same? I'm new to this forum and people who haven't rooted their devices seem rare, but still, it's easier to change it if needed.

Why not simply give him credit and ask his permission to post ?

Thanks Miraries! I'm actually already working on a CM11 Theme APK, and I'll probably put it in the Play Store when finished here.

Hello!

So I've been playing a bit of Watch Dogs as of late, and decided that I wanted to go ahead and make a ctOS-style boot animation, emulating the geometric hacker-looking loading animation you see in the game;

I went ahead and found this video of the animation I was looking for, and formatted it into a 1080p boot animation for my OnePlus One, and any other 1080x1920 resolution phones.

I'm also considering looking into making a variant of this one, in which the beginning part loops and then the animation ends on the ctOS icon, like it does if you are waiting for the game to load. I know the new Android L boot animation has a closing animation, so I'll look into how to make that work here.

Enjoy!

NEED the theme APK in my lyfe! Not enough modders use it I think. Its a great way to get it out to the masses imo.

Great animation. I saw on the first page you said the images are in JPEG. If you'll allow me to offer some unsolicited advice, I highly recommend converting them to PNG8. Your full 1080p JPEG images are about 150k a piece, whereas the 1080p images I use in my animations are about 56k a piece. That could reduce your zip to about 1/3 its current size with no reduction in quality. Win-win! :highfive:

Again, though, really cool animation. :good:

And this is why I love the XDA Community, everyone has some experience to chip in for great advice.

Thanks so much for the tip Brian, I'll have to convert them when I get a chance here. Win-win is right!

No problem, man, glad to help. It was actually in one of my early boot animation threads that someone else pointed out the exact same thing to me, so I'm just passing it along. :)

You and this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2865973

Need to get together. I love both of your animations, but his I'm currently using because of the simplicity of installing it :)

Thank you for all of you hard work though! Please keep it up!

Thanks man! And very true, I'll definitely need to make an installer APK when I have some free time; I also need to create a CM11 Theme Chooser APK at some point, and then I can put them both up on Google Play. Or maybe one app that could do both...

Awesome!

Nice job dude!

Quite possibly my favourite bootanim of all time :)

Used to have variant 1 with the system bars and that was really nice, now liking the second variant even more (with the cm logo changing into ctOS) .. that's awesome .. it'd be perfect if in between those two states when it's changing over, if you could include the system bars there too .. they add a really nice touch .. the odd flicker of code at the edge of the screen while the ctos logo is looping would also be really nice ..

Keep up the awesome work :)
