Well, it appears that there is a work-around for this. I'm attaching a link below which happens to be a clean media file. I'm still looking into the ROMs from other carriers outside of Sprint to see if they contain the same files in the existing "media" folder that appear to be interfering with the Boot Animation QMG's from this collection, which I hope to have this information soon.

Anyhow, the work-around is to download the "media" file, which this one does not contain any working boot animation or shutdown or PowerOn.ogg files in it, once it is downloaded I suggest adding your favorite Boot Animation QMG file from this thread-> qmg files go to the media folder and the PowerOn.ogg goes to the media/audio/ui folder, once complete move this "media" file to your SD card. Then go into your device, go into / system and remove the existing "media" file (move it somewhere to your SD card.) Take the new media file and paste it or move it to the / system file set the permissions to rwxr-xr-x, then open the media folder, check to make sure all files are set to the permission of rw-r-r and that all folders are set to rwxr-xr-x, once this is all done go ahead and reboot, if the device does not reload properly do a battery pull and all should be good. :good:
You should add to op. Worked perfectly. Thank you so much! Didn't even freeze. Just rebooted and it was there. Using Easter egg.

Dang I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I replace the the three files in system/media with the ones from the .zip I just downloaded but for some reason I'm getting no boot animation!

Never mind!!! Figured it out

I still can't get this to work, despite trying all methods listed in this thread. I'm currently running Freeza's fre3 ROM - anyone have any suggestions for getting this to work?

No matter which method I choose, I always wind up with no bootup/shutdown animation.
The way to fix this, is to run the solution in Post #20 in this thread, just click here. :good:

Brilliant animations here, I applaud everyone's efforts. I do wish there was a much easier way to implement them like flashing through TWRP. I can be quite lazy sometimes... :p

As soon as Verizon gets an Unlocked Bootloader on the retail non-Dev version, I'll consider flipping these QMG files over to flashable zips... :fingers-crossed:

Samsung Galaxy S5 Boot Animation/with sound contributed by shchiam1978

#Note: Normally the BootSamsungLoop is Reserved for the Carrier to input their Logo Boot Animation to play with the Samsung Logo. Since, this is a non-carrier Boot Animation the BootSamsungLoop is blank just a black screen. I have inserted below the BootSamsungLoop from the KitKat “Easter Egg” that will play after the Samsung Galaxy S5 Boot Animation. Enjoy!

Shutdown

Hello. I followed the steps and it works perfectly. Unfortunately the animation I chose plays during shutdown as well and it will repeat up to three times. I noticed there was a shutdown.qmg. If I simply re-used the stock shutdown.qmg, would I still have the custom boot animation and a stock shutdown animation? or do all three files absolutely HAVE to be from the same zip?

You can remove the shutdown.qmg file from the boot animation file if you desire. I tend to include shutdown.qmg files on all boot animations, but it is not necessary to run them, especially if they are not working correctly.

It's been some time, I've decided to add another Boot Animation to this long running collection. This one happens to be the Boot Animation from the LG G watch that has yet to be released that will be hosting the ALL NEW Android logo. Enjoy!
