I'm assuming you meant "fastboot oem lock" and "also you need to be root if you want to update the firmware" correct?

Yes fastboot... Also you need to be soff to upgrade the firmware.. Root is not required

It's just not getting detected.. You can manually flash it if you are comfortable with fastboot and adb ..
.. Copy the PG58IMG.zip file to the adb/fastboot folder

Boot the phone to bootloader and.. Connect it to pc/laptop

Then open command prompt there and try these commands

fastboot oem rebootRUU (black screen with green HTC)
Then flash it using this command
fastboot flash zip PG58IMG.zip
Then once it's done
Do this
fastboot reboot

Done

Would you happen to have the juop tool for windows?

You don't need juopunutbear for a off.. Revolutionary soft will perfectly work and revolutionary is soo simple.. No need to do wire trick and all

Check revolutionary.io site and pyramid is the device name

Ok. Here is what i did. Dowloaded the pg58img zip file from sensation q n a section about radio and ril. Kept it in sd card and then tried flashing using fastboot. It detected it but with incorrect cid error. What does that mean?

help

Assuming you have adb/fastboot setup
copy the PG58IMG.zip to the adb/fastboot folder of your pc

then connect the phone from bootloader/fastboot to pc (phone reads fastboot usb after this)

then open command window from the adb/fastboot folder
(if windows .. hold shift + right click -> open command window here)

then these commands one by one

fastboot erase cache (if failed ignore it)
fastboot oem rebootRUU (black screen with silver HTC)
fastboot flash zip PG58IMG.zip (flashing the zip)
fastboot reboot-bootloader

that would do

do i flash the pg58img.zip while on the black screen with silver htc...if so how long should it take to flash. Thank you, Robplll

    hello,

i s-offed and rooted my htc sensation. i also managed to install 4ext recovery. right now i am on 1.17. now i want to flash some custom rom.

but when i try to install one the PG58IMG.ZIP from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21989063&postcount=1

none of the zips will work. the bootloader doesnt seem to recognize the file at all. its in root on the sd-card and i got supercid. so it should work. all i get is:

    HBOOT
    SD Checking...
    Loading...[PG58DIAG.zip]
    No image!
    Loading...[PG58DIAG.nbh]
    No image or wrong image!
    Loading...[PG58IMG.zip]
    No image!
    Loading...[PG58IMG.nbh]
    No image or wrong image!
    Loading...[PG58IMG.tar]
    No image!
    Loading...[PG58IMG.aes]
    No image!
    Loading...[PG58IMG.enc]

i also tried different sd-cards (8gb and 32gb) with the same results.

what else can i do? any hints? thanks in advance.

    best regards mob
