Hey all! Good news! A 9-year-old bug called the "Dirty Cow" exploit still exists in the Linux/Android kernel can easily grant root on any Android phone!!! See the video below.

http://www.xda-developers.com/9-year...on-of-android/

So there's another bug to exploit for root and even possibly unlocking the bootloader! The bug has been fixed recently in Linux but hasn't been rolled into Android yet. If anyone can get this working on my AT&T LG V10 (running Marshmallow) I'll give a reward of $50! Plus you'll be my hero! Now get crackin!
I would add $100 to a bounty for getting root on the AT&T LG V10 which is already running Marshmallow. Is there any central way or crowd funding site to handle these bounties? I have like a dozen reasons I want to stick with the v10 for awhile.

I will sell my v10 if a root does not become available within the next couple of months. Should've done more research before buying, damn it :(

Any Update?

I'm still looking to root the AT&T V10 on marshmallow. Is there or isn't there a safe downgrade option to root it, and then use TWRP to flash a custom MM ROM?

Unfortunately, downgrading is not an option once you already have MM from an OTA update. Im hoping to see some loose restrictions in the 7.0 update. But that will be the final point. If the v10 doesnt become less restrictive with that update, then there will be no root, but, from what i know, the v20 has everything the v10 except the bugs and i believe has root.
