I cannot find the RAMDISK.IMG in UPDATE.APP which means I have no idea how to add magisk support for it. anybody help?

To flash, use:

fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk /path/to/magisk_patched.img

Does not work. Nothing happened after flashing. I have no idea why is that.

Of course I will not support funckyhuawei. Its just so expensive. I can get the unlock code from another secret place for about 35 dollars. I think if we can unlock the bootloader, root will be done. I will try to get the TWRP from source just like those Mate 20s did.

if someone could guarantee this works, i would really consider paying the price. But without an available custom rom, like linageos, it doesn't make sense for me. And another point is, that some providers of mobile payment apps don't work after unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone.

We tried rooting it, and failed.
Need assistance from a dev who can do it. The Mate 20 Method of patching the ramdisk doesn't work in 9.1.

If anyone needs to test anything, I can help! Because I too badly want root to patch the hosts file and remove the damn ads.

Not really, I would like my limited internet bandwidth not wasted on huge ads, and my webpages loading a bit faster.

You can just use a browser with an ad blocker for that. Blocking ads on apps is basically piracy and taking money from them. I'm happy to block ads on websites as 99/100 they are annoying and the sites are huge companies. Devs tend to be one person or a small group so deserve the support.

Maybe not CM or DU obviously. They deserve to go bankrupt.

I use Samsung Browser but I believe Chrome and Opera have ad blocking built in.
