Bootloader unlock on fake rom

Got my mi5s today but has fake rom on it 8.0.10.0.0 (MAGCNDH). Can I still unlock the bootloader? If so, what is the process?

I got the unlock code today but was read the app won't recognise the phone because of the fake rom?

Yes, you can. I also had that version on my phone when I get it.

I can't unlock it with any other cable, but the original. Also, try to look to the device manager, and make sure that your phone is not recognized as "Kedacom" or something else, if it is, manually change the driver would solve the problem.

Ok I believe its unlocked, how do I install twrp? There was a guide on the forum but I cant find it.

I'm currently using ZCX TWRP build 20161023 at the moment.

To install, it's simple:
1. Download TWRP (pass: ag77)
2. Extract it first
3. Flash the img with fastboot:

fastboot flash recovery ZCX-TWR-3.0.2-X-MI5S-Capricorn-16.10.23.img

Now, the TWRP will be in Chinese, but you can change it like this:
1. On the main menu, tap the second right from the bottom
2. Tap "world" icon
3. Choose "English"

Ok twrp installed, flashed last week's EU build and seem to be in a bootloop? Shows the progress bar, completes then the cycle continues and phone is heating up

Yes, I'm using that one. No, it should not relock your bootloader.

Did you did a factory reset in TWRP? We need to make sure that the data is not combined between ROMs...

Yes factory reset, cache and dalvik. Rried 2 different eu roms and it loops. The chinese beta miui_MI5S_6.11.10_62801f2895_6.0.zip works

edit: working now after wiping everything except storage and the last option.

So we cant add fingerprint?

Fingerprint works on mine...

OK it works, had to set pattern lock first.

When screen is off, fingerprint doesn't seem to unlock in one go but takes to lock screen first?

First time after reboot yes. Second time finger print scanner unlock device on first touch

The authorisation hasn't come for the 2nd device yet

Yes, you can.

Just log in to your previous account on the second device, and proceed to unlock with PC by using the same account (I did this many times with various xiaomi phones).
