Let alone 5G.I purchased from Amazon Italy! Took a month to get here but great phone. Just got it today. However I don't know if the 5g works on t-mobile.
FPS works fine as well as everything else on my unlocked and rooted European Edge (not plus) though. Weird that they intentionally break it for unlocking a more premium version.WTF Moto. Unlocking the bootloader intentionally destroys the fingerprint reader.[/URL]
Hi,Possibly.
Let's see if we can bypass it then
I wrote a small application that extracted the bootloader.img to actual partitions. I'm attaching the extracted data.
From the strings it looks like tz.mbn is a good place to start disassembling the key generation code.
This doesn't seem to be working for me, the calibration processes is good but after i add a fingerprint it always fails. No matter what finger I use.Reactivate/Calibrate the Fingerprint reader after bootloaderunlock!
Hello, after bootloader unlocking the fingerprint reader does not work. to get it working again you need to do the following things!
1. go to the Dialer and type *#*#2486#*#* wich opens the CQA testapp
2. allow all requests
3. go to the first Menu (CQA-Test in Menu Mode)
4. go to "Sensor"
5. go to "G5SPMT Test"
6. Start the test and when ist says: "Put the Flesh Flat" press start/next and put your Finger on the Sensor, then when ist says: "Put the Black Flat" put something non reflective over the sensor and tap next. int the Last step where it says: "Put the Flesh Chart FLat" I used my Fingernail on the Sensor! and even tho there was an error on the end, when you go to your Fingerprint/Security Settings you now can put in your Fingerprint as normal and it works again.
I hope this will help you, if you have any questions, just ask.
Thank you for this guide. This seems to work but when I reboot, I get the message "Fingerprint hardware not available" on my lockscreen.Reactivate/Calibrate the Fingerprint reader after bootloaderunlock!

Never mind, it seems I had to install Magisk before doing this fix. Now it works perfectly, thanks.Thank you for this guide. This seems to work but when I reboot, I get the message "Fingerprint hardware not available" on my lockscreen.
Do I have to do this every single time I start my phone?
Did you ever manage to fix it? Same thing is happening to me, I've tried everything and can't get it to work.I got the EU/Global version (XT2061-3) and was able to unlock bootloader and achieve root permissions using Magisk
EDIT:
Fingerprint reader seems to be broken after bootloader unlock / root ...
EDIT2:
Re-locking bootloader does not make the fingerprint reader working again.
The reader was possibly broken all along. I didn't test it before unlocking the bootloader.
so I even called motorola yesterday and they had a hard time finding the code and he said he saw it was all "A"s . Im like that doesnt sound right.....I wasn't going to try it. Then this morning as soon as I woke up I looked for the emails from MOTO. Apparently they were not even going to spam they were going to trash folder...so I was getting them but the unlock code is indeed all "A"s wtf. I tried it anyway of course it failed...
Did either of you end up being able to unlock your bootloaders with Verizon? Thanks. My Motorola edge plus from Verizon actually has the toggle for bootloader unlocking. I am kind of shocked!
Also as a note fingerprints can be registered but the recognition is incredibly inaccurate. I'm lucky if I can get 1/10 attempts to unlock the phone. Perhaps this is an issue with the test/calibration.I just wanted to follow-up on this. I followed the directions to do the G5SPMT test to calibrate the fingerprint sensor. I tried multiple times and couldn't get it to work. I kept getting the error: "1503 get calibration failed". I changed a few things to get the sensor to work.
In the second step where you cover the sensor with something, MAKE SURE it is something dark/black (and not reflective). Previously I was using a pad of paper etc, but this must not have been dark enough to properly calibrate at this step. After I did this I continued on and did the fingernail thing for the third step. This resulted in an error 1517 referencing something invalid (didn't save the exact quote). After getting this error code I tried to setup my fingerprint unlock and it worked!
I may have gotten lucky, or perhaps the 1503 error code just won't cut it. This could take a few tries, but I hope this helps!
What did you use to cover the fingerprint sensor? I want to make sure i'm not messing anything up. I've just been using a black microfiber cloth but maybe that isn't cutting it.I just wanted to follow-up on this. I followed the directions to do the G5SPMT test to calibrate the fingerprint sensor. I used a black notebook with a matte finish. Not sure if that would make enough of a difference. What did you use to cover the fingerprint sensor? I want to make sure i'm not messing anything up. I've just been using a black microfiber cloth but maybe that isn't cutting it.
I got it to work! I used the underside of my mouse pad and I had to max out the number of fingerprints so it would detect consistently. But my only problem is that it resets every reboot. Thanks for helping me out!I used a black notebook with a matte finish. Not sure if that would make enough of a difference.
No problem. I am still having trouble with getting the fingerprint sensor to work. I've maxed out the registered fingerprints using my thumb, but it still rarely unlocks.
