You are wrong. The last rootable US Samsung was the Note 8. That means this is only the 2nd generation that isn't rootable.

Wasn't that the root that came with the engineering build that gave you 80% battery? You are wrong. The last rootable US Samsung was the Note 8. That means this is only the 2nd generation that isn't rootable.

Yes they do get jacked without bl unlock. But If I'm sprint, no way I'm taking the chance of decreasing security for 99% of my customers to satisfy probably less than 1% of the customers who love that **** like us. Don't come back with the 99% won't unlock the bl.. Themselves, probably not. They don't even know what a bootloader is, But since it can now be done, it takes a 1 button root and unlock in a lot of phones. So any sideloaded or download apk or malware can root and unlock and create the backdoor to let the boogie man join u at anytime. To us there seems like a lot of people doing this stuff we like to do, but the big picture, we might not be a tenth of a percent. We're like the percentage of super uber gates, bezos, cook, Bloomberg rich people. Just wish we could trade places with them instead of worrying about a bounty lol... I'm sure Samsung will unlock them for us when we're in that tax bracket :victory: it's all about security, period. People keep their lives on their phones. They damn well better be secure. Again, Samsung could care less of 1 tenth of 1%. They're also the only other phone you see in govetnment or big businesses other than iPhone. That's because without John McAfee, you're pretty safe.
Wow $2000! I'll update the op now!You are wrong. The last rootable US Samsung was the Note 8. That means this is only the 2nd generation that isn't rootable.

I believe so. Mine is rooted using that method. 80% & Viper4audio works for me...Wasn't that the root that came with the engineering build that gave you 80% battery?
Option for said 1% could have simply been to log into Samsung website and request a bootloader unlock. The issue is not so much why they are BL locked but why the option to have it removed is not present for said 1%. Same can be said with Noweiway, infact they took it a step further by no longer issuing bl unlocking codes ( they use codes ) on any of their devices at all. So in essence Samsung users still have a choice. You want BL unlocked option buy a non USA models.Bootloader unlock isn't gonna happen. Best bet is a leaked engineering kernel. You'll get root but no unlocked bootloader. Half the time engineering Kernel is a buggy root. I miss the good old HTC days when you could go to their site and unlock your bootloader. What was the last US snapdragon samsung device with an unlocked bootloader? It's been many years hasn't it? I think the Carrier versions do it for security (just my opinion) i dont think they care less about hotspot. If you have an unlocked BL you'r giving the bad guys full control of your phone via malware. FULL CONTROL. They can do whatever they want after you install their cool custom rom or infected APK, they now have full control of everything. All of your passwords, everything. The US carriers dont want lawsuits because someone stold your bitcoin wallet or drained your bank account. It's not worth it to them to please the less than 1% of users that want unlocked BL. I doubt 1% even know what a BL is and what unlocking it means. I've seen Unlocked BL bounty threads since leaving HTC for the samsung S6. That's about when HTC fell off with their phones and samsung was the best thing out. Never got BL unlock for the s6 and I dont think it's happened since then. Now days if you want an unlocked BL, Buy international or buy a google Pixel. Since the pixel is unlockable and is available from carriers it makes me wonder if it's the carriers behind the Samsung BL issue. Kinda shoots my theory in the foot lol.
partly true.. truth is most devs wisened up and decide to go with devices that are already unlockable.. i know many well known devs who r still around they just dont bother at all withanything locked..
its a shame but cant blame em lol.. i dont have the same luxury so all my devices r mostly locked so i spends lots time hunting for vulns but security is getting better and better as time goes and when theres only 1 person here n there even trying then seems impossible sometimes
I believe there are developers out there with the knowledge (or the ability), possibly. I also think that some do it for the thrill of the hack and what it represents. I would love to help, but I'm the wrong type of engineer...You want to get a team going amd try to make this happen ?

eng kernel also wont happen lol in fact last devices to have flashable eng kernels was the S7.. s8 and newer devices u need an eng token to use eng binaries which r hard to find and if u do usually cost an arm and a legBootloader unlock isn't gonna happen. i been (what seems like) working alone for months n months now.. nit one person has messaged me or even indicated they were also trying lolWell if people know anyone on here we can get a team and unlock the bootloader/root I've been trying to find possible "bugs" but nothing at all its extremely hard because older tricks that people used are patched and I'm still running 9.0 on my note 10 and still nothing.... I dont want to update to 10.0 till people find a root method but its extremely hard now a days but with a team I feel like it could be done
Yeah.....No!i pledge 700 towards the bounty to have the verizion sm-n975u unlocked.
i think the word, cant and impossible are stupid, i think it can be done, but we just don't know how at this time, i did find out something neat, on the verizon variant of the sm-n975u i managed to remove all the verizion branded stuff, even the boot screen no longer shows the verizion logo but only the samesung logo, i did it by changing the CSC code from VZW to XAA, this seemed to have a few effects, it caused verizon visual voicemail to break, and allowed me to remove everything verzion branded, it did not trip knox or unlock the bootloader as i had hoped, but i was also able to do a trick where i flashed the firmware from an XAA sm-n975u1, though the oem toggle still did not appear in that version of firmware either, but i suspect that changing the CSC code, may be the first step in getting where we need to be, now i'm not a hacker or anything like that, and maybe i don't even know what i am talking about, but changing the phones CSC from VZW to XAA seemed to have a big effect on the phone, even when i reinstalled verizon branded firmware it installed with no verizon logo's are apps, thats why i am thinking i may be onto something here. but again, i could be wrong. i simply don't know enough about this to tell one way or the other. but again, i put 700 dollars towards the bounty, also as for the pettition, i would sign it, but the sad truth is, samsung is just going to ignore it, in my phonecalls with them they blame it on the carrier, when i called verizon they blammed it on samsung, so honestly i really don't know wtf is going on here.
maybe my information about the CSC code being changed from VZW to XAA may help? i don't know, but if it does that would make me happy.
"your".....Rofl.....the fail continues!!!your a special kind of stupid aren't you?
maybe i don't even know what i am talking about...... but again, i could be wrong. i simply don't know enough about this to tell one way or the other. .
I agree. But the horologist post was hysterical, don't you agree?I shouldn't need to say this, but no matter the case everyone in this thread needs to be respectful of each other. That includes name calling, putting other people down, being rude, etc. I understand this is very frustrating for people, especially reading ideas from a novice, but we can still be respectful and kind when explaining their idea doesn't work. I appreciate everyone being active in this thread and committing to trying to do what seems impossible right now. Everyone here is immensely appreciated.
Horologist, as for the petition, not signing it is not using your voice. This isn't for customer service reps. The point of the petition was the hopes of it getting enough attention, that the people upstairs that can actually fix this issue will see it. We have 180 signatures and every single one counts, every single share is another possibility of another signature and another share. It adds up. If you could, please reconsider signing it, it doesn't hurt and takes a few seconds, same with sharing it.
