Can I get a detailed description of the purpose of the "BP Tools" in the Stock Recovery menu ?

I don't have greater knowledge about this. All I can say from my own experience is that you get an additional app CQATest in your launcher that lets you check all your sensors and other hardware.

Keep in mind that on some phones, the cqatest app can cause a lot lag and can also crash the phone. This is what happened on my Moto g3. If it does make the phone crash then disable the app which will appear in the apps menu.
