If your insurance covers damage then destroy the phone and call att and tell them its been destroyed.

if not then it is possible that the power outage could have caused your phone to zap.

Don't damage your phone. If it won't boot, take it back (but it is unlikely you bricked it). Show them the phone and tell them it won't turn on. They will have to decide if you damaged it.

Again, the fact that you may have spilled something on it doesn't help your case. If this was not a factor, they would exchange it without blinking.

Don't worry man, i've "bricked" my phone twice doing this... Purposely. Why? Because I'm an OCD freak (well, not really) and I had a few scratches on the screen and I wanted it replaced when I got my phone protective film in. What'd I do? While flashing odin I unplugged it during the factory.rfs. After unplugging it, the phone no longer booted to ANY screen, not even responded to power from USB.

Took it to ATT said I think it was a USB problem, tried to power it up with another battery as well as another USB outlet, which of course, was a no go. Brand new phone out of brand new packaging.

Oh and btw, actually the first phone I returned I replaced the water damage sticker right by the battery prongs. My phone wasn't damaged, but I managed to get a few water droplets on the phone while I was biking, opened the back, lifted up the battery, and of course I tilted the phone so the droplets when towards it. What I did? Took out the sticker, and replaced it with white tape. Again, i did the odin pull plug technique, took it to att and the guy didn't even look at the sticker, focused mainly on trying to get it on.

Naw i didn't because it was still within the 30 day period. The 30 days is pretty much a satisfaction period. Anything wrong with your phone, you give it to them and they will replace it.

After 30 days, you have to go through the warranty department by calling in. They ship one out, then once you get it, you send yours in. This process is called Advanced RMA. Sometimes, att stores will handle warranty issues... If you get the right guy and they feel generous enough to give you a replacement (through warranty department, phones are refurbs.... Att stores only carry new phones not refurbs)

Saying it was a defect not caused by me, and them having no way to prove my fault, they have to replace it.

I'll clean the charging port with alcohol and let it sit a day before I send it in.

Will they take apart the phone and check for issues and start questioning me, or will they be like, dang that sucks, here's a new phone?

Ok, and how long does it take to get a new phone, do I have to wait days for them to send it to me and approve the claim, or do they just hand it to me right there?

Thanks! :)

I dont work for or do i have any knowledge on how att works specifically but this is how it most likely works...

First understand that att doesnt design these phones. Obviously they are made by samsung. Att techs are trained for the basics, so when a warranty is handled, they get your phone with any "physical" signs of *abnormal* abuse. By this, i mean cracks, missing pieces, dents, missing screws, and water damage. When they check for water damage, they go by the water indicator stickers, not warped pcb boards, or ports. (for the most part, warping isnt even visible unless if the pcb is very hot... Take a graphics card and water for example). Once it passes physical exam, they toss it in a batch to be sent to samsung to be recycled... This is how we get refurb products.

Please note that it is probably a fast process. They probably get hundreds to thousands of phones a day, so its check and toss. Once it gets to samsung, and even if they find its damaged, they really cant trace it back... If they did itd be very time consuming, which means money tied up on their part.

If your within the 30 day period of buying your phone you can take it to the store and replace it no questions asked. If your passed it, id still take it to.your local store, argue a bit, talk to.amanager if you have to stating you need a phone24/7. Most likely you wont have to ask for a manager... Just ask for one if the clerk denies you one.

Through the warranty department, youre approved through the phone. Hell ask a series of questions of the condition of the phone (like what color the water sticker is and if the battery prongs are corroded. Your answer is pretty much no to all of them). Then they send you a phone. It generally takes about 3-7 days to chicago. Upon recieving it, youll have to ship your phone back otherwise you will be charged for the phone. I believe its a 2 week deadline

if its covered by insurance

Based on this site,u could use accidental damage to your advantage. If its covered by their insurrance plan then go spill water on it and make sure u trigger those water damage stickers. Then tell them u dropped it the pool and they should give you a replacement for a price. find your phone here for that particular

price: ull have to go 2 att website and look under mobile issurance and look for a phone deductable pdf
(delete the spaces)
usually for me they send me my new phone lg thrill and a new box so i put my damaged phone in the new box and off it goes and i have my new phone
