Hi! So my brother broke his oneplus 3t.
The phone had a broken screen but working screen for 2 weeks.
I did warn him to make a backup but he didn't.

So...now the screen is not working entirely.
Can only see the charging led while charging and can switch the phone on and off.
Need to recover the data.
It won't connect as anything in laptop.
Just charges when plugged in.
Help!

Why not just buy a new screen? It's dead simple to swap, I've done it two times on my phones. Took like 5 minutes all in all.

Also is normal that it only charges when connecting, you have to change to data mode through touch on screen to get access to the phone, this is a security feature.

.

I replaced my broken screen a few months ago and having issues with touch freezing occasionally, temporary fix is to lock and unlock. Also adaptive display doesn't work. The old Caseium kernel makes it a little better.
What's your setup? Rom+kernel etc.

Sounds like you got a semi borked replacement screen. I would return it and ask for a replacement.

Yeah, got it replaced in a shady area in my town for $55 big mistake Iol. But it's too late now, just want it a little usable as second phone since I bought a pocoF1.

Actually I find opening the 3T anything but simple, tried for hours, ended up at a phone repair store, where the got it opened in no time, but for a layperson like me this is definity a procedure where you can easily break your screen if it isn't broken already
