For me even on 3g only I have RIL panic.
Seems that with Wi-Fi on all the time no more problems after 3 days of tests.

It's something with the data.
If it's disabled or using Wi-Fi for data for long time no more RIL panic. At least for me.

The same situation for me on my MB526.
No RIL panic in 2g only or in WiFi mode.

Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband: EPU93_U_00.60.03
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-Jellybean
Cyanogen Version: 10-20130220-NIGHTLY-mb526

I have left the setting on auto 2g 3g but with data disabled.
For 68h I had no RIL bug.
Testing more but my presumption that the data connection is the problem comes to be true.

After 5 days in 2g mode without RIL problems, I agree that 3g data connection is the problem.
Enabling 3g mode, the data connectivity stop working and the signal breakdown (despite the signal streght icon continue showing 3g and the meter still remain blue)

In my case only a manual reboot temporaly solve the problem.

I suppose there are two possibile motivations:
1. absence of SlugZer0 patch in the last versions of CM10 by Quark
2. SlugZer0 patch is present but it's unable to reset the connection in particular defy+ models (like mine, maybe for a specific HW problem)

I downgraded to CM7.2 after having been on CM10 for several months hoping to solve the battery problems, lag, and the dreaded RIL bug.

The lag was fixed but the battery problems and connectivity issues remained. The connectivity issues had gotten so bad that I needed to reboot my phone every few hours in order to be able to receive calls and have a data connection. I was literally ready to smash this phone to pieces.

Until I got a new SIM card.

I have not had a single data connection drop or an instance where the phone cannot make or receive calls, for almost two weeks now. Also, my battery lasts me almost two days! Yeah, before I got the new SIM, it lasted about 10 hours.

Finally I have a proper, working phone. I do still miss CM10 though, perhaps I'll upgrade again in the future.

Tried with the SIM card see my older posts in this thread.(no luck)
The only thing I didn't try is changing the operator.

It might be worth giving quarx's latest build (070313) a try, so far so good for me... no dropouts even when switching between 2G and 3G. I'll post here if I do get a drop.

I don't think that this solves the problem because the RIL bug is on all roms even on stock roms.
I'm also on the latest build by Quarx but I will not enable the data connection because this will bring back all the problems.

I do agree with you entirely . And I have also tried different sim cards on my SOC MB525 with no success.
Regards the other provider I have used actually the O2 PAYG card and have had no ril problems, but couldn't tested it for long time - I'm stuck with Voda pay monthly.

Guys I think that the problem is definitely from the network operator.
Searching the web to see what frequencies uses my network and I have found a communicate dated 24.09.2012 (approx. the date my problems appeared) that says they are enabling 4G connection and they want to free the 900Mhz band. This seems to me that this is the problem because I used till now basebands with 900/2100Mhz(all from Europe). Now I have changed the baseband with China 850/2100Mhz. Until now every thing is ok I will report later if I have problems with RIL or not. (Data enabled again all the time).

I'm trying the same using America - USA Baseband 850/1900/2100Mhz, but in this case the 3G data connection doesn't work. The top right icon show only an 'E' - Edge and not an 'H' - HSDPA.
If I change to China 850/2100 Mhz the data connection seems work and the speed connection with Speedtest is really good.
So, we are waiting to see if this solve the problem :cowboy:

I think that the RIL bug comes in when the phone is forced to switch from one freq. to another (2100 to 900 and back). Using 850 instead of 900 forces the phone to use only 2100 band.

Or you can use south Korea is using only 2100 freq.

The situation is really strange. I tried with South Korea 2100 Mhz baseband this morning and I get the data connection RIL problem again after approximately 1 hour!
Now and yesterday, with Asia -> Cina BB no more bugs
