The answer is NO.
But what this has to do with the data connectivity bug?

After a few experiments, I would like to share my experience with the so called RIL bug and my conclusions.
1. I have experienced this bug in my Defy using a lot of different ROMS. Since stock rom and also in CM7, CM9 and CM10 by Quarx and/or Epsylon3. So my conclusion was, at least in my case, that my bug was not related to the ROM.
2. I bought a new battery, and the bug persists.
3. The bug has appeared last year, in Brazil, using the TIM mobile Sim Card, about 5 years old. Last month, I went to Europe and I spent 3 weeks between Germany and France, using a SIM Card from the German carrier BlauWorld, bought 3 years ago, and the bug has just disappeared. When I moved back to Brazil, I bought a new TIM Mobile SIM Card, keeping the same mobile number, and I am using it since 2 weeks with no bug. So, this leads me to conclude that, in my case, the bug is related to the SIM Card versions, or even a combination of the SIM Card versions and the network.
Best wishes,

Quarx added the bp panic in the latest build 18.03 so from now we are saved with this workaround for RIL.

My contract came up for renewal so I decided to get a Galaxy S3... no RIL bug so far :)

I'll still be maintaining my wife's defy though, so will still be active on the forums.

I read this topic, but my doubts still on the air.

I own a Motorola Defy + with CM10 20130110. When I start the phone, always works well. But after a running time, the phone's conections dies.

The 3G conection stop after a running time to. The bug is temporarily fix by a divece reboot.

Anyone knows how fix it?

There is no fix. The only workaround is to install the CM10-20130318-NIGHTLY-MB526 and the device will automatically reboot.
Or the latest build CM10-20130326-NIGHTLY-MB526 but you have to copy from 18.03 build the file system/bin/panic-daemon to the same directory to your phone and set the right permissions.
There is no fix to this problem.

Ohh man.. it sucks..

I'll try install the CM10-20130326-NIGHTLY-MB526 with the new kernell file. But I don't know how to 'build the file system/bin/panic-daemon'.

Is there some tutorial?

Guys I know it's sad but true.
After sending my phone in service for the fourth time with the RIL bug the guys from the service center have changed finally the mainboard.
So now for sure it's a hardware bug.

Did you asked Quarx if is there some workaround or solution? It sucks to reboot each time that bug appears, maybe better to automatically (and silently) turn off/on the RIL to recover phone function...thanks in advance

The workaround is already implemented by Quarx in it's rom's and is done only by reboot the phone. This workaround is also in stock rom's but without warning.
So it's the only solution by now or the second one if you still have the warranty like I have done is to change your mainboard (but this is too hard at least for me was - 4 times in service).

Data bug work around

I had recently switched my service provider as they didn't have 3G. I started facing this telephony problem with my new provider. It was very irritating as it happened every other hour and if I was not aware then it reboots and get stuck at system menu and then drain the battery. Yesterday, I tried changing the mode from complete 3G to 2G+3G, and it has worked very well for me. This has reduced my reboots to once a day (I think), without losing speed. Which I am ok with. Some how I feel it may not be HW issue but a software one where switching Network modes has not been handled properly. I may be wrong ofcourse

Thanks!

Back to a normal build

Hi guys ... i just reverted to 24.09.2012 build which is not a 2ndboot buld ... the RIL bug in the new builds is so annoying... i get every 5 to 10 mins me ... i dont know about you guys.. Maybe because i have BL7 loader which is a shame actually .. oh i so love these new CM10.1 build .. So snappy and fast with the new kernels...

RIL bug is also present in this build but the boot menu module option saves me a lot

in the bootmenu it lets me choose to enable all modules that let me use my defy all day long without the RIL bug...

it would really be nice if the new builds could have this option WHICH they don't unfortunately..

Any Comments about this is welcome as i want to understand the Defy RIL bug a bit more...

Thanks
