Hello XDA members,

I've created this thread to devise a bug test. The bug is as follows: When disabling all animations, tapping on an icon in the stock launcher does not run any application when tapping sloppily. An exact tap has to be met.
It only applies to stock roms. The purpose is to link this thread to SONY developers depending on the test outcomes.

The test is simple:
  • Navigate to Settings → Developer options, and set the following:
  • Window animation scale→ off.
  • Transition animation scale → off.
  • Animator duration scale → off.
  • Reboot phone.
Now try tapping on any launcher icon. According to the bug description tapping on an icon won't launch any application unless you tap 'correctly'. It might be about 1pixel precision, so no unnecessary movements. Quite difficult to achieve on a 1080x1920 display.
To revert back do the following:
  • Swipe down to open the notifications bar.
  • Navigate to Settings → Developer options, and set the following:
  • Window animation scale→ 1x.
  • Transition animation scale → 1x.
  • Animator duration scale → 1x.
  • Reboot phone.
Please reply with feedback whether application launching worked or not, and help make Xperia Z a better phone. Thank you!

UPDATE: The bug seems to be solely caused by Animator duration scale - keeping it on allows easy tapping.

I've had this problem since pretty much day 1 of getting this phone.
One of the first things I do when setting up my phone is disable animations. I have re-enabled the animations and the home launcher is working again.
I might stick with nova launcher for now though. It's a lot smoother and I don't like animations.
