i think this update on Xperia devices is... a little mess, for now (january 2022). I hope with future improvements they fix almost the major bugs/issues A12 created. And the UI is a little too big, in my opinion.
I also had this, but primarily on A11. I chalked it up to the immersive gestures magisk module being an ass, but I don't recall having this problem on any other phone. Anyway, as a suggestion draw down the notification, go to setting and toggle between 3-button mode and gesture mode. Saves you a reboot.Adding my 2cents here for X1iii on first build of A12.
Have had a few bugs so far:
- Gestures Navigation broke requiring not only a restart of the device, but shutdown and then reboot.
- Youtube expand to fit screen function (pinch out) no longer consistently works.
In my case, I have no problems with the Google Account synchronization, I have also tried all the workarounds: re-synchronize, add the account again, delete the devices from the web, and a long etc and none have worked. Here are the links to the other forums (Official Sony Support and Google Support) where all the attempted workarounds are. Greetings! My gmail bug is also a different one. In my case my account is refusing to sync, this affects everything besides contact syncing. Meaning my Calendar, GMail and GDrive do not sync. Opening each of the apps manually forces them to sync, but thats the app syncing, not my account. Without syncing, notifications don't work.
In Android 12 I am not sure if its fixed or not. This is because for my case there is a half fix. I disable GMail and Google Calendar. (Gdrive is uninstalled, was installed for testing I don't use it often enough). It seems this causes Google to "forget" about half of my account and reset syncing if I leave them disabled long enough. After a week or two, I enable them back and they start syncing normally and notifications work normally. This however slowly degrades over the course of the next week or two until my account stops syncing again with no notifications. I am currently in my first week of the latter and I am still getting my GMail notifications but I am not sure how long this will last.
Note: How to figure out if you have the same issue as me? Open your google accounts sync in settings and check if the sync icon next to each item is stuck there. Then try syncing manually from the three dot menu. If its still stuck, you have the same problem as me.
You should elaborate on your recommended method. For example, I OTA update to Android 12 on my phone, then I used Xperia Companion to Software repair. This seems to be the most recommended method. It doesn't fix the bugs I encountered before the Software repair. Maybe it is the wrong method. If it is, I hope you could help us with your method if it is better. If anyone updated with OTA just flash the firmware from zero with xperia companion. OTA are always a mess when not done on a clean system.
Even on iphone here at work a clean istall from recovery mode+itunes is always better and it's mandatory to avoid bug created by istalled third party app.
Never OTA, never.
To my knowledge Sony Music never had a built-in equalizer and has always used the equalizer provided by the OS (I have only used Xperia since Android 8.0). In Android 11 there was no equalizer either. If you wanted one you have to use Dolby Atmos custom settings. In the Sony Music app there is also no more Equalizer available. I really dislike this new update, I can't even enjoy music anymore like I used to. I regret so much that I did this update.
I didn't need to activate dolby atmos before. It was a separate setting in the sony music app. I really don't think that it was integrated in android 11 because I could only have the effect over the sony music app. I.e. I couldn't use spotify with that EQ, it was exclusive to music played in the app.In the Sony Music app there is also no more Equalizer available. I really dislike this new update, I can't even enjoy music anymore like I used to. I regret so much that I did this update.
I don't think you can do anything besides wait for ASUS to release a new update for your phone, or change to a custom rom. Our problem with the Xperia 1 III regarding broken widgets was fixed in the following update. Looks like its a bug in Android itself that somehow went unoticed by QC in Sony, and now Asus, and it can only be fixed with another update.I'm using an ASUS Rog Phone 5 and have the same Widget Problem like the Xperia Guys that wrote in here before. I can Not place them on screen by using any other launcher then the standard one, which is nö possibility because it is awkward.
When i try to put one widget on my homescreen i also get the message that settings closed. Trying to resetting the Phone to factory reset didnt even help. Can someone help? Im starting to despair...
Correct.
