Hi I am on ZV4. It was rooted by stump root. I downloaded the supersu app from play store and when it went on updating binaries, it got stuck and lost my root. Earlier titanium backup was working but now its not. I did factory reset again installed stump root but it shows as device is rooted but still there is no root access to apps. Can someone help? I can't download the tot file since it is a very big download. I am on ZV4. Please help.
I can think of 2 options- flash a rooted stock ROM, or download a zip from this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053) and flash that in TWRP. I hope this works for you.

Just a few questions (since I am new to G3):
1. After installing stump root and rooting the device. How can I flash recovery? I mean should I use bump method or directly flash the twrp from flashify?
2. Whats the difference between bump twrp and normal twrp?
3. Are there any special roms for bumped twrp or I can flash any rom for LS990?
4. Any other suggestion.

1. You can use the command line method or flashify. Either one will work.

2. They're functionally identical, but the bumped TWRP has been signed with what basically spoofs a legit recovery image, which fools the bootloader into thinking it's LGE software and not aftermarket.

3. There are dozens of ROMs for the ls990 on here and all have either been bumped, or are based on the stock kernel and boot.img partition and don't NEED bumped. The developers are responsible enough to bump the ROM before uploadinging it. The bump script is actually written into the code for many ROM sources, so you're not going to have to worry about looking to see if a ROM is bumped before you flash it.

4. Suggestion: ALWAYS make a backup before you do anything. You want to flash a mod to a stock ROM? Make a backup. You're upgrading a ROM with the same ROM, but a different nightly? Make a backup. You're going to alter the build.prop to change screen density or some other thing? Make a backup, even just of the affected files and then you can reinsert them with TWRP's file manager if whatever you did breaks booting the ROM.

And remember that from a completely powered off state, holding Power+VolumeDown will boot you into recovery. Just keep holding it until you see the graphic telling you it's loading recovery. You don't need to worry about being able to boot into the system so that you can run a "Reboot into Recovery" command. You can do it from a cold boot.

Thanks a lot mate for such a detailed reply.

Guess I have to first flash the stock ZV4 before rooting it again. I did rooted my ZV4 but SuperSU from play store unrooted it. Stump root still says device is rooted. Downloading ZV4 tot takes a lot time. Hard reset didn't helped.

If you're planning in using SuperSU, it might be a better idea to flash it in recovery instead of letting the app handle it. There's a thread on here for both the beta and stable version, and I personally just add it to the tail end of my flash when flashing a rom.

Rom, gapps, SuperSU beta. Wipe caches and reboot

If you've already got recovery installed, try flashing that first instead of the complete zv4

Also, no need for gapps when flashing stock based roms. That will mess things up.

I can't use the HW buttons to get to recovery. I used stumproot then used flashify to get twrp. Never unlocked the bootloader.
Are you holding down power and volume down to get into recovery? On the Sprint variant you just keep holding them down until it says recovery loading. You don't have to release and then press them again like the other variants.

You've done the only steps necessary. There is no hidden unlock step.
What about the adb commands? Hmm it appears it now works. When I wiped cache/davlik on my first attempt at a LP rom, it simply went into boot loops, holding them down did nothing and I had to use download mode to flash the zv4 rom again. Odd...

Those adb commands are just the command line equivalent of using flashify.

dd if=twrp.recovery.img of=recovery-partition

Just means disk dump from the input file of the TWRP recovery to the output file of the partition named recovery. That's all flashify is doing. It's dumping the IMG files to the recovery partition. Direct 1:1 write.

There's adb commands prior to that for wiping the recovery partition first. It can't hurt to do that, but hundreds of us have used flashify to do it without wiping first, and there's no adverse side effects.

I'm having an issue where whether I use Flashify or ADB, after reboot it always goes in to a black screen with a Fastboot message. The recovery never installed.

Any ideas? I've tried several times but can't seem to figure out what is going on.

How are you trying to boot? Most of the guides I've seen online say to hold the vol down and power, then release, and then press them again. That doesn't work for the Sprint version. With the power off, hold both buttons, and keep holding them, until it boots into recovery. Don't release the buttons at all.

I did the same things as you. Stump to root, then flashify for TWRP. Now you've got me wondering if I missed something. HW buttons to boot recovery works for me.
I don't think you missed anything.
