Use the LG Flash tool to revert to zv4. I sent my G3 in for warranty repair (cracks in housing) and they updated it to zv6. I am now back yo zv4 with root.

Check out the stikies in the General section. fergie has a discussion on how to restore to stock using lg flash tool. The instructions are really straight forward and clear. I believe all the links to what you need will be found there.

Sounds like you need to do a lot of reading. Sim unlock? Rooted with custom recovery you mean? Three posts up from yours is the answer in short. Lg flash back to zV4

how do you get "root & recovery" from someone asking about sim unlock?

So how does This method compare to the new way to root lg g3?

https://youtu.be/i22O9VHGi3k

Does this new method eliminate need for bump'ed roms?

Anyone?

Root and bootloader are two very unique things. You can be rooted and still have a locked bootloader keeping you from being able to install custom recovery and flashing roms.
Bumping has nothing to do with rooting but only works if you have root. It essentially is a work around and tricks the boot loader into allowing your to flash roms and other things without actually unlocking the bootloader.

I dont know what did wrong.....

Everything went well using ADB..... But when I try to boot into recovery, it just goes into fastboot. I made sure I placed the image file in the internal memory. Didn't get any errors when using the adb.

Can someone tell me what I might have did wrong? I am fully rooted.

Did you root ZV8 and use those methods?
Or did you revert to ZV4 then root/unlock.

I think these 2 methods will require different ways to install your recovery
This Bump/recovery will work with ZV4, but I don't think it will with ZV8.
If you rooted ZV8, then I THINK you have to use this method. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60033021&postcount=1

Which is going to be interesting since almost all of our ROMS are built using the older ZV4 bootloader.
So those of you that Root/Unlock using the ZV8 methods MAY have issues running any ROM because now you have all of the Lollipop partitions.
The "Revert to ZV4" method uses the old partitions.

I used this method.... http://highonandroid.com/android-smartphones/how-to-root-lg-g-flex-2-g2-g3-on-lollipop/
I didn't have to revert back, but ill try that way. Thanx a lot.

I'm rooted. Version AS990 of the G3. But no recovery or bump mentions my model. If anyone feels up to the task, we need a recovery and a way around the boot loader and a rom or 2. I'm not a noob, but not quite that experienced. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

What about stock ROMs? Anything wrong with rooting and unlocking ZVA and then manually flashing OTA updates as they come?

I don't take OTA's. But I hear it fails with root/unlock. Not to mention the risk of losing root/unlock.
But I could be wrong.

So for a phone that's really hard to root like the Sprint G3 running on 5.0.1 with LS990ZVC or even the newest ZVE, does that mean you can use something like Kingoroot (or anything that can at least get root on the phone), then use Bump to flash a pre-rooted ROM like CM (or whatever), then get rid of Kingoroot and keep root access?

Or on the other hand, does Bump let you flash a different bootloader onto your device? For example, a recovery mode that includes the ability to root, something like Philz Touch used to do for the older Samsung Galaxy S3? Sorry man, I've been using Android for a few years but I usually never mess with ROMs, just gain root access. But I haven't been able to since I bought this LG G3, so I'm wondering if I can finally find something that will at least provide a "pseudo-root" like Kingoroot, if that would be enough to use Bump in order to flash into a ROM or recovery with a better method of root. (Because I've read that stuff like Kingoroot only provides root access on-boot, something similar to build.prop modifications, insofar as they aren't actually "true" system changes.)
